I've tested it on Colonel setting and when I had the transports out the italian fighters took a hit being surprised. I whittled at the german fighters with all my others including the new ones and managed to get 1 of em down to 2 and the other about 6 then they took off for bases and stayed away til ...

The intention for allied air assets was to present a green airforce in this action. Through testing I did manage to best the german airforce by setting traps with my air assets over transports and purchasing additional fighters 2 turns in.
