in the game we played tonight Mark placed a BG of LH behind but within 2" my Defensive spear BG.

In my turn I took a CMT which I passed and placed the BG into ORB formation .

The question is are the enemy LH affected by the defensive Spear BG's Zone of Influence ???

I assume that if it's a 1 in the core troops then it would be compulsory.............. if its not I can make a lot of use out of the 24pts

In both of the Crusader lists there is a 0-1 choice of a Fortified camp as a CORE TROOP choice, is this correct.

most of the other lists I have seen either have 0-1 choice in the optional troops list and just a 1 if its in the Core troops list ?

a while ago there was some discussion on the percentage of Core troops in an Army list............... I am looking at entering Roll Call and maybe Britcon.......... I have had a quick look at the rules for both of these but did not notice any mention of Core troop percentages............

is there no difference between Skilled Swordsmen and Swordsmen when fighting ordinary foot ?

The ++ for skilled swordsman is only showing as a single + on the Melee POA list

Is there much of difference between the Late Roman and the Byzantine lists ?

we have already games of 650pt ( 18% less ) and there is not enough " real " table space......how low do you suggest we go ?

Having played all the 25mm games with Mark the only thing to make game play similar for 25mm is to use bigger tables, with space a t a premium at tourneys thats pretty unlikely..........

With around 650pts at 25mm you tend to have less BG's on the table whcih makes the chance of reaching the ...

If for instance I took a unit of HF / protected / heavy weapon and they ran into some armoured legionaries the HW would negate the legions armour........

does it also mean that while the legions get no armour POA would my protected guys still get a better armour POA or does it just balance off ...

its an interesting dilemma..............but both 6's and 8's only need 2 losses for 25%

Question is can armoured BG's of 6 survive where protected need top be in 8's

Think in terms of some spartans.

6 armoured cost 78 pts whereas 8 protected cost 80 pts

Are Trojan Spearmen defensive or offensive ?

having now had time to sit and look at the list from the other night..........

I have dropped the Vet to 2*6 BG's and used the points plus 9 I had spare to boost the 2nd light Cav to 6's and add a unit of 6 Spanish Scutarii MF / Ave / Prot / Imp Foot.

Still considering dropping 1 of my 3 TC's to ...

After playing Hammy on Monday we discussed the size of My Carthy Vet BG's ( Superior / Armoured / Off Spear )

He suggested I drop them from 8's to 6 per BG, which makes sense.............

My Average / Protected / Off Spear will stay at 8's

What I'd like some feedback on is how big would you make ...

This was my 4th game and it was helped by playing Hammy who had most of the stuff in his head which allowed me to concentrate on the game play rather than look up bits I'm still not sure off.

The first 3 games played I ook my LH and Cav units in BG's of 4 and found that shooty Cav made them run off ...
