Re: The Dyle Plan
On the other hand, I tend to think that the Allied conquest of Belgium shouldn't prevent the Axis from getting their Blitzkrieg bonus when Brussels falls. I am not sure I agree. What made the Blitzkrieg so devastating was the speed of events and the way the German forces swept through the Ardennes ...

Morris, you are getting good at these AARs, and I am enjoying reading them.

The British in Canada had no way of knowing about the Japanese attack upon USA and the German attack upon USSR. So it's natural to me that they're low on morale. This makes Canada sound like Tibet. Canada surely had telegraphy and access to US newspapers even in 1940. US papers and newsreels covere...

Re: Super-Max!
Which leader did you build for this? Pizarro? Cortes? Ponce de Leon? Alvarado?Diplomaticus wrote:The Spanish invasion of the U.S.A.--a stroke of genius! Boy oh boy are you taking advantage of your knowledge of the way M plays the game. This is a lesson to us all to consider *all* possibilities.

Morris must be skipping General techs, apart from one lab. Can't really expected him getting so high tech without. He still has starting levels of organization for everyone? (Although since it's only mid '42 that might be the case even w/o skipping general labs.) And the navy techs of course... RN ...

He claims it takes too much of his time to write an explanation and he feels he doesn't feel he speaks English well enough to explain. I think he expresses himself quite well. He has time to start game after game. Go figure. I believe he wants to keep the exploits to himself so nobody can beat him....

If you asked me the exploits is very simple: Allies are too strong at the start of the game which enables them to weaken Germans in 1940/1941. Example: UK has 4 AIR units + 10 INFcorps at the start. If you gather it all it becomes powerful way to drain power from German. The same with powerful Sovi...

Why not retreat simple? You seem like going to bleed your troops for holding less then 5 PP objects for 5-6 turns. I don't think that your line will collapse, but you are going to exchange some casualties with soviets, and not at very attractive rate. If Max retreats in the face of this offensive i...

To give me another turn for the setup. As i said i post 1 turn late, you will see its looks a lot better next turn. Moriss still hasnt attacked my defensive line, the odds must be horrible. My air force is also doing its job by depleting his lead elite units before they can attack. If moriss can be...

Yes, what bothers me is the fact that everyone knows what strategy Moriss will use and yet he seems to win all the time. I know what basic strategy Max, Borger, Neil and Joe will use against me in the games that I play them and they beat me all the time too. It's more than just the strategy. It's t...

I think there are two choices with Barbarossa, go standard in 41 as you are now, or wait for 42 if you take Persia you have two fronts against the Russians in 42 and can have a marked tech advantage in ARM I don;t know which is best? The arguments I usually read against Persia is that it takes quit...

Max, your problem may be oil and eventually manpower. Weak Spanish air, armor and naval units will burn oil. If I were Morris, I would be hoping to get you in a position where your PPs don't help any more. Do you think you can take advantage of his relocating units from Egypt to Casablanca and get a...

This should be happening in the game. By the time Germans launch Barbarossa Western Allies should fear German forces and packing UK as much as possible to defend the possible invasion. Allied Player should maximize chances that UK is not conquered as if it is the effect would be devastating. This w...

OK..... so does the game engine actually allow a prohibition on CW units entering Russian territory? If you can't, how about a massive effectiveness penalty to all UK units once London and Liverpool fall? That would be easy to rationalize (loss of critical supplies and parts from the UK, and morale ...

I think Plaid has summarized the issues best. The disease of PP specialization must be addressed rather than symptoms. It may be instructive to look at more sophisticated research models in games such as Hearts of Iron or even Civilization. There you need supporting techs in order to advance. Consid...

I see both you points, but axis has never had any room for error i think, no matter what version. With the zone of control idea is to keep out of range of the Russians, must station air units to get better range of visability to see when they are coming. Also his line was dangerously thin, could´t ...

You shouldn´t be so hasty. Take a look at it again, Severe winter struck with perfect timing for Morris, he had almost made contact on every front. If you would have retreated 2-3 turns and given up ground to make sure he couldn´t attack, then you would be in entirely different situation. Perhaps c...

Also ronnie, it is very obvious that a player like moriss could move ALL english units in russia... Thinking about it, i deem it possible. Imagine transferring via sea all ground and air units to russia... While the americans attack in 1942 Most of the the time he would get away with it because mos...
