Re: Pike Testing Workshop

Seems mostly good, but I'd avoid penalizing medium foot against pikes more than they would be penalized against normal heavy infantry. I imagine that historically, they would be good at backing out of the way of pikes, and with a less ordered formation anyway, they probably would suffer from this ...

Re: Pike Testing Workshop

I'd say that stead vs. non-steady pikes should have casualties mitigated. I imagine that without a solid wall, the disordered pikes will be backing up, trying to avoid the pike wall. They will still be disrupted, so they'd still lose combats a fair amount of the time, but I think steady pikes ...

Re: Pike Testing Workshop

I think that a lot of these tests are missing a "low-intensity" modifier. With pikes, it's not just a matter of which unit has the advantage, but of how quickly the combat will proceed. I mean this not just in morale/cohesion check (already implemented), but also in casualties. If there was some ...

Re: Pike Re-Balance Workshop

I like the impact advantage of impact foot vs. pikes. This could represent the impact foot taking advantage of minor imperfections in the pike formation or rough patches below the scale of entire tiles.

I'm not sure if bronze shield reservests should have a higher quality rating than average ...

Re: Pike Re-Balance Workshop

Proposal:

Reduce the size of the phalanx unit by one row.
Remove the square ability.
Eliminate bonus of both rear rows for POA and roll these bonuses into the base unit.
If the phalanx does not lose a battle, halve casualties for both sides, proportionately reducing the chance that the opponent ...

Re: Miscellaneous Topics

Hello, thanks for replying.

1. Yes, but didn't phalanx battles have a tendency to be more drawn out than other battles? Pike phalanxes could be decisive, but just maybe a bit slower than other units potentially could be.

2. True, though I imagine that this is because they would often cancel each ...

Hello, I’ve been greatly enjoying FOGII recently. It seems to be very realistic, and it was easy to learn. I’m no expert on the topic, but I do have a few possible ideas on how realism could be increased. Please let me know what you think...

1. For pike phalanxes, my understanding was that they had ...
