I tried 3 times to get past the tutorial, crashed every time within 5 minutes. Ran a dxdiag and looked at the recent system errors it pulled, saw error caused by this:

P2: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_0060&SUBSYS_38423753&REV_1001

So I disabled my onboard audio, and it appears that has fixed it ...
