Re: Friend looking to get into Wargaming, multi-player

Strategic Command, the original, had such a feature but that was when it was over at Battlefront.

Now that it is offered at Matrix I'm not sure that ability to play TCP/IP still exists. You could go over to the forum and make the request and try out the demo.

Re: Some notes on the dev diary

Now, with the large & small icons, you can get really revolutionary with PC and make it a truly new iteration of the product by forming battlegroups with different levels of combat characteristics. Say you start with a heavy infantry group, the large icon, strength = 5. Now you can add the suppo...

Re: Some notes on the dev diary

No but you could do it with multiple images. Let's say two big tanks represent 10 or max strength. Then one large with 4 small =9. Once you get below 5/half strength then you have the smaller multiples representing the strength. Of course you'd have to make an allowance for the over strength images,...

Yes, but Possum, I'd hope you'd be a better commander than Monty, especially since you have the benefit of hindsight.

Just to add a little historical clarity to the discussion, the Allies employed the UK 1st and 6th Airborne, 101st, 82nd, and 17th US divisions and the 1st Polish brigade. I would say that constitutes an airborne army......called the 1st Allied Airborne. Remember there were numerous smaller battalion...

Achtung! Uhh...sorry, wrong language. What I meant to say was due to the imminent release of WaW it is paramount that this game engine be adapted to the PTO. Here's the reasoning. The new features of SC are consistent with the evolution to the Pacific for the next release. Once that happens you will...

How about keeping this simple, when you purchase a marine or paratroop unit from the build Q you pay the appropriate cost for the transport since the unit will be used in that capacity. Once the unit has been used in the intended feature it will have to be returned to the Q for repurchase at 50% bef...

I'm hoping that these newly liberated assets don't go into full production immediately upon being conquered. Realistically there would be an interim period that the ravages of war would need to be repaired. I would say that a slow escalation to a max of 80% prewar production would be an accurate sim...

Why not have both, balance and realism? You know there will have to be another edition to approach the concept, this is the entry level test bed. You players are to perfect the mechanics with your ideas and testing of the current engine. Everyone is on the same page, to increase the game's acceptanc...

Well I can see the improvements to this game engine are getting along fine. Since, it seems the developers are interested in a more PG type system, why not concentrate on the interaction of the various combat units. You guys make sure the rock-paper-scissor effect work within the parameters o...

Fair enough Les, and the respect is mutual. Its very refreshing seeing you weigh in on CEaW. Actually that's one of the prominent reasons I keep coming back. I put you on to SC and the Panther boys, you're turn to return the favor. Keep telling us about the merits of CEaW, its still in my radar, jus...

Sorry, being an advocate of the SC series there seems to be to much duplicity here, well for $50 anyway, and what...with no demo...I'm suppose to trust y'all?? The money is really no object and eventually I may surrender to a go, but that's a ways down the road. It is a pretty package, I like the ma...

Actually the attaching of assets was first devised in the boardgame "Red Storm Rising". I still have that game and coupled with the "Hunt for Red October" provided for a decent WW3 experience. This is a feature that would be useful for naval task forces also, probably air units t...

Thanks again, most informative. Let's discuss leadership quality. Is it set throughout the game or does it evolve and if so how does it evolve. How do the leadership's quality get passed on to the units under its command? What is that command structure, the limitations? What are the leaders' combat ...
