If you go "Back" and select another Skirmish mission, does this still happen? This hasn't come up before in testing, so any extra information you can provide us would be awesome :)

If you press "1" on your keyboard it'll bring up a "tactical display" there is a button for it to the left of your "next unmoved unit" as well. This will show you your minimum/optimal/maximum range. For bolters its generally best to not shoot something on the tile next ...
