As for stacking, my suggestion is two units per hex, but I respect your decision with one per hex. But in that case you must be careful with one big problem which SC and SC2 games has ??“ when player want to replace units in same hexes. For example, I have in Berlin hex infantry unit and in one hex...

I agree with your ideas. I think it would be a sweet way to deal with airpower. And also make the player "Feel" like he is the Supreme Commander in his headquarters. Getting the games interface in synch with the scale is the key to making the player feel like he is "in it". Nice ...

I'm not sure it's the done thing to post a link to someone else's forum, but http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=011475;p=1 provides an interesting insight into just how effective tactical airpower was at the front line vs armour.....or how effective it wasn't! But what would have happened to the Russians if all they had was Shermans?......Leibenstromm!!!! Or at least a longer and more brutal war. If that is possible. After all, American tanks did not win the war. Maybe they helped out a "bit". American air power to a much greater degree. B...

Hmm, interesting how 3R still remains in the minds of many. I played 3R a little as a kid, thought it was rather boring. Only 4 turns per year! You had to wait forever just to get your move. Intercepts were weak, etc. Obviously computers have helped us since then. I completely agree with you. This ...

I absolutely agree. It should be something simple but good. Idea about reducing movement to half and oil stockpile sounds very good. -VVEEDD Great minds think alike! We are all WWII buffs. But balance between gameplay and history is key. Commander could have all the historical accuracy in the world...

Well, sorry, but please stop being polemic. I've never wrote I want to replay history. After all, this pretends to be a world war 2 game and so I don't know what it hurts if there is somethin in the game which resembles history My comment was not directed at you and I certainly meant no offence. Wa...

"I'm wondering if we could do something simple saying that moving units more than half speed uses up oil points. If you have no oil points you can only move half speed. Oil points are in stockpiles at the start of the war & replenished from oil fields. We'd probably need to add in a base va...

I for one prefer a system that has a little luck in it like you seem to be working on. But I'm the type of player that likes to rewrite world war two and experiment with ahistorical strategies not rehash world war two again and again with the same result. I mean, read a book if thats what you want t...

I agree but we'll have to see if the game system allows for that level of player involvement. ( placing subs in the indian ocean if you have the Suez ) Naval combat in the indian ocean will probably be excluded or abstracted. If it isn't included then why not model some abstracted effects that hurt ...

So in game terms would that mean less RN available for the Atlantic? There for more trouble defending convoys in Atlantic. stalins_organ- Let me give you a gameplay scenerio. The Axis has occupied the Suez and has teched up subs in the Atlantic. The Allies have neglected their ASW techs. How badly d...

Suez

Good stuff. So when the Italians entered the war the convoys had to go around but not before... But for game play purposes shouldn't Axis occupation of the Suez mean something? People need a tangible reason in game terms to duke it out in Africa. It would give more strategic depth to the game and st...

Around the horn

From what I've gathered convoys are physical units so if they have to go around Africa resources and manpower are going to be delayed. They would pop up somewhere in the S. Atlantic no? They would be much more vulnerable to Axis sub attack. Perhaps when they arrived in the S. Atlantic the allies cou...

I will definately mostly play single player. I do like to play hot-seat. ( especially contentious affairs involving a lot of beer drinking with my brother!). Having control of Romania or the Middle East should make some kind of difference for resources. Also the Suez isn't active? Then why fight in Africa at all? If the Axis gains control of it, the allies should be cut off from colonial reinforcements and resources.

I am hoping that this game offers a new and different experience than SC. This coming from someone that bought SC ( a fine game) but not SC 2 ( beacuse if just seems like more of the same.) I know Commander will probably look much prettier than SC but vvedd asks some valid questions. What really is ...
