Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v2.0

Hi y'all, and congratulations on a new release McGuba! I can feel my brain already beginning to divide itself into neat little hexes... %-D I hereby challenge you ALL to a multiplayer game, please PM me or make your acceptance of the challenge publicly, first come first served! To give you an idea o...

Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v1.9

...Cyprus, you mean.

Well done, I always found this option scary as it means putting lots of transports in the water before air/naval spremacy is achieved. How big is your Syria Korps? I suppose you hunt down the subs aggressively from the get-go?

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.9 - brief summary (few pics)

@Werner, we seem to like the same units - Flammpanzers and Flakvierlings :) I'm perhaps overly focused on achieving zero-loss combat, but I found the Flammpanzer to be useful only in a limited time window. They become too vulnerable once there are many overstrength T-34s around. But they were vital ...

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.09 - brief summary (no pics)

To be clear; to defeat Torch on the beach you need both German and Italian fleet and air units. Once repaired, I send Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and the heavy cruiser south to Gibraltar, destroying the British destroyer screen on their way to ambush positions off Southern Morocco. A german sub follows l...

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.9 - brief summary (few pics)

Well done! What were your difficulty settings?

I'm hoping to be able to invade and conquer UK after repelling Overlord. Just need time to get those pesky sea mines out of the way!

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.09 - brief summary (no pics)

I'm May '43 and I realize I've actually over-prioritized Russia - that's a first for me. Ref your comment about a static eastern front being wasted time - tried to avoid that and kept hammering the Bear, now only Archangelsk and Astrakhan are in Russian hands and will fall within a few turns. The do...

Re: Tactics - what worked and what didn't

- Over commitment of troops against the Torch invasion. I could have used those 7 units in Sicily on the Eastern front. I blame General Werner for this one! I then had a huge bottleneck of troops trying to transfer from North Africa, which took significant time. Call me a cheat, but since I know To...

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.09 - brief summary (no pics)

I'm not in '44 yet, but so far a mass of mobile AA and 3 Fw fighters are keeping the skies clear in the West. The Sdkfz with 140% rate of fire reliably kills an average of 2 strength points off most fighters and even some strat bombers, letting the Fw's do the mopping up with minimal losses, thus ga...

Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v1.9

@Jimmy: basically the close defense value of INF makes for higher casualties, regardless of attacker. Thus, a higher chance to get wiped out. Sure they get punished in the open vs tanks, but what I'm trying to say is, sometimes you should avoid putting your unit in close terrain. Example: a weakened...

Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v1.9

I'm in Jan '42 and have noticed a few things - My overall strategy: no fancy operations, any distraction from reducing Leningrad/Moscow/Stalingrad as soon as possible will probably be punished with massive Soviet reinforcements. AK reinforced somewhat and heavily supported by Regia Marina, to be abl...

Re: Battlefield Europe 1.9: The rise of General Riesenknülle

The French Campaign PLANNING The first Generalstab discussions were centered around what amounted to a modernized repeat of the Schlieffen plan - an astounding fact, considering the Generalstab prided itself on being the most forward-leaning staff in the world. However, after the enemy capture of th...

Re: Battlefield: Europe MOD v1.6

Hi McGuba, First off; this mod is FANTASTIC. It has cost me back pain, sore eyes, sleep deprivations and has had a severe impact on my social life :) Here's a few opinions from an old hand, after my first playthrough. I've read your ideas for v1.7 and I see you're planning on increasing the number o...
