Quick Win or Battle Experience??

Another question:
Is it better to go for a quick German win in Poland and Holland-Belgium-France by avoiding unnecessary combats
or
Is it better to take an extra turn or two (or three) and let the infantry korps fight (and take losses) for experience? Do you end up gaining somehow or is the experience gained through the combats lost forever by taking casualties/replacements???

Units will lose experience when you repair losses. The only way for a ground unit to gain experience quickly is to have it fight in situations where it can cause a lot of damage without taking much itself. The main reason to go for a quick capture of Poland is because France grows exponentially stronger as time goes on. Invading France in January instead of March or April will make an enormous difference. Delaying in Poland will cost you time, resources from France, and losses. Germany must move quickly and without hesitation through Poland, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium in 1939 and very early 1940, or they will probably end up losing the war. You can get away with taking your time against the AI, but not against a good human opponent.

I would say it's a delicate balance between time and casualties. Doing it fast at the expense of heavy losses is as bad as dawdling.

That's true. The trick is to do both at the same time.
