Keeping track which BGs can be bolstered

My buddy and I find it hard to keep track of which BG have recently lost a cohesion level. So we came up with a convention for showing it and I thought to share it.
What we do is use green, yellow and red markers. (Any color will do). When a BG loses at cohesion level we put TWO markers. Green if Disrupted, Yellow if Fragmented and Red if Broken. At the beginning of the next turn, we remove 1 of the tokens. If during that turn a BG loses a level we add 2 tokens of the appropriate color. In the JAP phase, any BGs with only 1 marker (if they have a commander (EDIT: )) gets to try to rally/bolster.
Yes, any kind of markers can be used but it's the 2 and 1 that I think really helps remind us of which BG is available for bolstering.

Good thinking! Certainly needs something like this in games with more than 10 BGs or so a side. The time lapse between the first disruption in the impact phase and the beginning of the JAP can lengthen and it can seem like something happened last turn when it didn't! Also it's easy to forget a BG can be bolstered but in your system you have a visual prompt.
Thanks for the idea!

I was thinking of markers that can be flipped over but I suspect your 2 / 1 method is a simpler visual cue and thus more reliable.

If commander is actually with the BG.

When writing the post I was thinking of exactly this. It would work too. You could also do 1-3 markers depending on the level of cohesion loss or clearly different markers that would represent this well.

To keep the cues different in kind and minimize errors, I think I'll try marker color for cohesion level and number of markers for recency. This should make it easy to eyeball the field at the start of each Impact Phase for duplicate markers.

I've been doing the same for a while - except I remove them at the end of the JAP
It has the advantage it's a simple system to get into the habit of, so I can concentrate on the rest of the game.

Great idea, wish I had tought of it. Never a problem for my opponent as he never has that many to boster but for me it will be a real boon, especially as I am using Tim Porter's nice printed markers and 2 are as easy to fling down as one.

The alternative to using two markers is to have a different marker which is put on when a battlegroup loses cohesion - I have some 'Shaken' markers which fulfil this purpose.
These are removed during the JAP, but serve as a reminder that you cannot bolster the BG.

Argh! I have confused myself with all of this now. I had counters all printed on labels and based up and they looked excellent. Then this brilliant idea comes along and I am getting myself confused with what needs to be on what counters now!
Just to confirm, am I correct in assuming that - the turn you loose a cohesion level, you CANNOT bolster in that Joint Action Phase. You have to wait until the turn after.
So, for example, if I lost a cohesion level in my enemy's melee phase, I would test in the next turn i.e. my joint action phase (or do I have to wait until my second turn?)
You see, I am very confused!

Correct.
You can bolster your BGs in EVERY JAP phase. BGs that lost a cohesion level in THAT turn (your or opponents) can't be bolstered in that JAP phase.

I have the Litko counters, but what I do is when they drop a cohesion level I add a red token to the counter and after the JAP of that turn I remove it. It works great unless you forget to put the marker down when it happens.
