strategic warfare

Playing against an allied player that purchased around 10 airships and or bombers between England, France and Italy. He bombed pretty much every city from Sofia to Antwerp to the point where the CP can't purchase a thing AND I have to disband units in order to stay in the "black". I tried building fighters to intercept, but they don't. And yes I had the appropriate tech. Apparently they only intercept when friendly "units" are attacked and will do nothing to protect a friendly city unless a ground unit happens to be in the hex. This is a game breaker folks, needs a hotfix now.

Yes, strategic bombing is too effective at the moment.

We'll be addressing this and a couple of other exploits which have been pointed out in coming patches.

Thanks for the response, glad to hear you folks are working this issue and others. I think this game has the potential to be one of the greats.

In what rate does the cities regain production...it seem to take forever. Is there any difference between occupied cities and home cities in the ragain rate?

Thanks in advance

My observations indicate that bombed cities recover a point in six turns. I've also noticed that if you bomb a city that is undamaged, i.e., it's production value appears in white, you never miss. But if the city has already been succcessfully bombed, i.e., it's production value appears red, you score a second hit about 1/2 or 1/3 of the time, depending on the unit.

My experience suggests that it is better to switch targets each turn than to keep bombing the same city.

I think even bombing is too effective now. Air rorce is far too important and effective, it's nearly at WW2 levels of efficiency and that simply wasn't the case in WW1. The bomb load and 'accuracy' wasn't as high (yes I know WW2 bombers weren't exactly accurate either but you get the idea) and the entire idea of strategic bomber on a WW2 level wasn't born yet. Bombing entire armies into submission, that's a little over the top I think. In 1918 bombers become nearly more important that infantry and the allies actually win due to their air power. I think that's a bit off, especially since the bombers completely wipe out and German fighter units they can reach without them being able to defend effectively.
