How to identify benefits of heroes?

How do I look up the benefits of heroes to each unit. I see the icons, but where do I see the specific benefit the hero adds to the unit? It's not under F7.

For example, an armor unit gets +1 movement. I want to make this a Tiger II so it can keep up with the Panthers. How do I know which unit to upgrade?

The only way at present is to look at the units details and hover your mouse over the heros portrait.

I do know others rename their units to include hero bonus's so as to make it easier.....

You simply don't get to see it other than Horseman explained and it is a weakness of the UI that somehow should be addressed in future updates. It's a pretty annoying flaw.

I use different units types for my special heroes. Anyone with +1 move is a HW inf or Tiger, +range I use a different artillery unit than the rest of my units. It works as a temporary solution, but in the future this item is a fairly high priority for attention.

Excellent. I run the game in 2560 x 1600 so the icons are really, really small. Hard to mouse over. Suggestion - put them in F7 and highlight the differences in purple or something like that.

I add the bonuses to unitnames.
For ex. +2atk, +1mv Infantry would be named "2nd CE+2atk1mv" CE standing for Combat Engineers, a +3initiative Tiger II would be called "3rd PzG+3ini", etc.

This way I can see at a glance which units have which bonus stats when deploying.

Yes but since the functionality to rename units does work that reduces the annoyance level to acceptable levels, imo.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing this fixed, but it's not like it's on the top of the list.

To be honest I rarely check hero bonus's, the att, def and init just means they perform better than I expected

I know who has the plus move bonus's because I dont have many of them (and the way I role play my Divisions its easy to remember)
The same with plus range Artillery

So I second the "It would be nice but not urgent" motion

Though I disagree with that rationale :)

The bonuses are important alright. The reason I'm not putting this on top of the list is that there is a workaround (using the unit name as a kind of notepad). It's not pretty perhaps but it at least works.

Once I start my 2nd campaign which will be on field marshall I supect I may need to be more aware of whose got the super boost!

Umm when I use F6 and hover my mouse over the hero portrait, I get nothing. I have no way of knowing the benefits that heroes provide to the unit unless I write them down as they happen. I've tried this in 2560x1600, 1920x1200, and 1680x1060 resolutions. Am i doing this wrong?

Never mind. I figured it out. You have to Alt-click on the unit, hit the Battle History tab, then mouse over the actual portrait of the hero. Seems like a lot of keystrokes to get some pretty critical information.
