Rule Germania. Crazy Canuck vs Urpo Finn

Me and Pion Urpo decided to test out the new naval rules in GS 2.0 He's a Finn, I'm a Canadian.

The game had an unusual start. I attacked Holland on turn 1 and Belgium on turn 2 fighting like water. The changes in poland and belgium in GS 2 altered my normal start so I didn't realize what a blunder it was. Pion Urpo responded with the 1940 British/French plan Dyle defence of Belgium. lol

What is in the end to become unstuck must first be stuck.

Lucky for me, my first ever pbem as axis against kinghunter gave me my first experience of the double wall and winter warfare in France. Thanks Jay

In this game both allowed me to snatch victory out of the jaws of early defeat.

After Pion Urpo's plan Dyle on turn 2, I continued fighting like water, took Liege, and headed south.
Killing units and stretching his defense line.
Funny how I avoided Liege on turn 1 and attacked it on turn 3. Conquered it on turn 4.
That's water for ya.

Last turn I took The Hague and Brussels.

Pion Urpo is a counterpuncher. He killed 1 inf corps near Brussels early.
Since then I've frusterated his plans by heading south and not giving him the opportunity to counterpunch as much as possible.
He' been shifting his mechs hoping to land a counterpunch from time to time.

Because of the judo tactics I haven't had to buy a 3rd fighter or tac. Last turn I bought a nice sub.

Rule Germania, Germania rule the waves.

Clear weather March/40

Killed some more french gars last turn. Killed me to kill the Canadian gar in rheims. Knocked the BEF mech to one step.
I see preparations for sealion.

Just curious, what is the standard allied way to play: Early Blitzkrieg, the British stay home, Sitzkrieg the British go to France?

If you plan for sealion you should have atleast 4 bombers and 3 fighters minimum....otherwise i feel you might run into problems and not being able to support your troops properly.

You might also consider sending down land forces to africa since brittish economy will be hard pressed to make any repairs. After you see that Sealion is a success, send some Luftwaffe to support.

April 28/40 Paris falls. Killed the British Mech this turn and the 2nd Canadian Gar last turn.
Of course I've forgotten to take screenshots the last 2 turns.

To answer your question:

I tend to find that he who controls the naval power of the Med also controls the destiny of land units. So the problem the Axis faces is that if an determined allied player proritize the Med it will be a hard fight in Africa and Italy. So operations in the Med are tricky due to axis supply and the constant numerous disadvantage on the sea.

Tobruk is a stongpoint worth holding on to, make a stand there could gain valuable time. Some prefer to defend Sicilly and just fill it upp with GAR and Corps, that also takes some time for Allies to cut through. I have seen more offensive measures like producing a lot of subs with the italians to dirsupt the RN in the Med. Personally i like those actions better, since the other strategical options you are simply accepting the inevitable wich is defeat over a longer time.

Be carefull to leave the Med totally undefend though, that could lead to an early knock out of Italy.
