Battle report

The one feature I miss in this game is a battle report splash screen that would pop up after a battle and show me what happened. This would be extremely helpful during the PC's turn. Also, make it optional.

You mean the 'L' hotkey combat log?
Or are you asking for better visual feedback on actions that take place during the AI turn?

I think this would be a great feature in multiplayer games.

Better feedback during AI turn, yes. A splash screen that jumps up after every battle that you click away. That shows what happened. I find it hard to follow sometimes during my own turns and especially during the AI turn.
Edit: Ideally this would pop up every time you get attacked during the AI turn and allow you to see what happened before the the AI continues its turn.

16. Rugged defense visualization and notification.
Also visualization for unit surrenders, air ambushes, and artillery/AA defensive fire. Also visualization and feedback for AI attacks.

One visualization I'd like to see, is from Operation Barbarossa where artillery units shooting at you from FoW hexes, have a marker displayed over that hex which remains during your next turn.

Please don´t forget the "submerging" message/note for subs! Though I don´t know if it´s still missing in 0.98 for sure...

If by 'submerge' you mean 'evade' this also falls under #16.
