base removal from shooting muskets

So this reads nearest base but obey proportional rule.
It seems when units appraoch obliquely, this is very finicky.
If the corner of your line is close to my center pike I lose a pike even if the musket is straight ahead.
And vice versa.
If I read that right. THe first loss to a BG is closest base. Not an option. not most numerous. THe proportional then really kicks in on the 2nd base loss.
Just double checking i have this right. Too many rule sets.
