WW1 mod

I have been quietly working away on a WW1 mod since the game came out and I’m now close to releasing the first scenario. There will be two variants – Single Player as British and a Multiplayer scenario. The scenario is based on the very first tank v tank battle at Villers Bretonneux on 25th April 1918. You can read an account of it here:-
http://www.landships.freeservers.com/tankvstank.htm A British Mark IV male and two Mark IV females fought the attacking A7V’s.

I have added all new units – see below (thanks to my brother Rich and his son Pete for the A7V model). There are also new planes – Se5a for the British and an Albatross for the Germans as well as artillery bombardments of course. Mortar and HMG teams can move – albeit not very far. The trenches work as light fortifications – tanks can’t cross them so they are abstracted slightly by having gaps in the lines (not uncommon at this stage of the war). I’ve also added pillboxes, shell holes and barbed wire.

I’m hoping to have the scenarios released pretty soon and then will work on a Cambrai campaign. Future plans include adding the French, more late war campaigns, early war stuff, Cavalry etc. Please let me have any suggestions for new units and/or campaigns and if anyone fancies making maps or scenarios just let me know.
Here’s some screenshots:-

The WW1 Desert Rolls is still having troubles with funny shading from edges across faces treid varous settings after seeing posts in " Lighting Functionality ... Dawn/Dusk/Night ?"tried those - still the same  . Need to play some more with smoothing groups, but want to get instructions for other project finished first.

Thanks for all the comments everyone - I'm just going to post it now on the main forum (just in case some people don't come to the strange and wonderful world of modders corner).

I need to check if its possible but once this is all tested and ready to go we might be able to integrate it to the user content system so people can just grab it in game.

It should be possible to integrate I think as the folder is still a stand alone like other user content stuff - its just a bit bigger :D

Definitely - once it's been played to your satisfaction, we can push it out to the whole playing community. I think it's the biggest download yet! :)

My brother pointed out that i didn't need to include the s3f files so I've re uploaded them and they are 30MB lighter!

This mod is SO impressive!
Thanks a lot!

The tanks break down constantly and are pretty useless, just like in the real ww1.

The only units I miss are horses for cavalry and pulling cannons.
It could be super cool to have a campaign that spans all of the Great War – just like the good old Historyline 1914-18.

A newbie question: How do I make a campaign with ww1 tile set and units?
If I create a new campaign then I cannot use ww1 stuff.

You can create a campaign in exactly the same way you would a ww2 campaign. The WW1 tiles, objects and units will all show up in the editor.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm thinking about how cavalry and horses to pull field guns can be introduced. Personally I think making campaigns based on specific battles/campaigns are probably best. i.e. you would have a Somme campaign, 3rd Ypres, Cambria, Kaiserschlacht, Final 100 days wioth the units we now have. For other stuff like early war (Mons etc) and French battles I need to add more units.

I downloaded and have just started playing your first scenario. You did a great job sir; I especially like the way the WWI tanks move.

I still dont get it.
If I create a new campaign then the WW1 stuff does not show on the list.
The only way I can access it is to add a scenario to your campaign.
What am I doing wrong?

I really hope more people are working on scenarios for this great mod.
Maybe you can get some inspiration from the good old Historyline http://www.historyline.info/download/index.html
