Battlefield Academy Beta v1.1 Available

This beta update fixes the ending MP game bug, and also alters the way we deal with trying to track and fix Out of Sync issues. Now, it will not tell you about them, so you can continue your games, but it will send us logs should anything be amiss, at which point I can look through them and hopefully work it out!

Download from:

http://www.slitherine.com/files/bbc_ba/ba_1.1.exe

It's a full version - I wish I'd got the autoupdater working already, but until then this is the cleanest way to make sure everyone is running the correct build. Remember to uninstall before installing this build.

Note you won't be able to see or continue ongoing MP games.

Thanks to all you guys!

Cheers

Pip

The one thing I noticed in the 1.0 beta was how bulldozed units just explode with pieces flying all over. LOL that always cracks me up. However, one little touch would have been to add a sound effect.

They do?! Shows how much I get to play the game ;).

I'll take a look and see if we have a suitable effect!

Pip, I just got a new computer so hopefully it fixes the issue of not being able to run it :)
But now I can't download the 1.1 Beta, gives me a 404 error.

I did a test, sure enough looks like it's been removed.

Anyhow, I have close to 20 pbems currently in progress. I wish now that PBEM tool were already available... (hint hint) :P

Returning from my holidays to continue being defeated by Obsolete  , and I've got the same 404 error when I try to download the 1.1 version.

If you think that's bad.. I have a few games going on with Cyberstratege who is testing the online aspect for review. This poor chap has no idea what he just walked into :P

Crap. It looks like I removed it rather than 1.0. What a muppet I am.

I am hoping that we have 1.2 out and ready to go for Monday, so it shouldn't be too much of a disaster.

Cheers

I see in the public forum that the date is pushed back. That's good.

Will we get a manual with 1.2?

Obsolete - to play the Cyberstrategie guy you would have to stay at the version you are on. Do not upgrade. If you install to another folder you can get the new version 1.2 when it releases.

It would be good to teach him the game in a nice way. Dont pummel him. If he enjoys the game he'll write a good preview!

Alright, I'll install to a second folder. Anyhow, he's got past ASL experience so he's a rather tuff opponent for now anyhow. I may have underestimated him.

I'd like to try and work out the problem with the old one though. I might need to get you an EXE with some more debug information in it, if you are willing to give it a go.

Thanks

Since I crushed him so fast in 3 of the 4 games we have going on at once here, I'm letting him grind me down so he can have his final finally and adrenaline rush in the last one :P

This has involved me doing things such as moving my units in front of his just to get shot up, and even rush my units face-blank right into his obviously awaiting ambushes :P I'm going to try and make him work for it a while longer, so he probably won't clue in it's a rigged game :P

He's asked for access to the beta forums so he may well be reading this now :)
