The entire GS development team was asked, and is, part of the development and testing of this latest game in the Commander series by, "The Lordz Games Studio". One of the more exciting aspects of all this is that CTGW will use a different (non java-based) game engine and the continued development of games in the Commander series.
Of course this continue development depends on you support of CTGW and other Commander games when they are released.

My support is guaranteed already. The game looks great, and hearing that both the GS devs are working on it AND the fact that it does not use Java for the game engine makes this an instant buy for me.
Great news!

Intrigued by the introduction of admirals and aces. Anxious about the "mind-breaking decision making."

Looking forward to it.
Good Stuff

Me too. I've never played a WWI strategy game, though I enjoy reading about the war. I couldn't think of a better game system on which to buy my first WWI game.

Then we'll play our first game together with no experience on both sides and we'll settle who's the best strategist of us 2

No experience at all? I don't know. I think I'd like to play around with the AI first. A game with no experience would just settle which one of us learns quicker.

Well, my challenge stays!
Ok for 1 or 2 games against AI, but thats not a challenge.

Please build in some form of email security (I can think of several ways to do this so pls let me know if you're not sure how) and I'll buy it.
Failing that at least allow players to set the combat randomization level to "low" which would in a way partially secure email games.
Thx

That would be fine by me, but not essential. If Slitherine does this, could the developers please make sure game crashes won't lock a player out of their turn? My CEAW game crashes a lot, so I've had to replay quite a few partially-completed turns. My stupid Windows Vista must not agree with the game or something.

Yes, happens to me occaisionally too - CEAW just disappears and I end up back at the windows desktop.

This is important. A guy from this forum discovered the low level of security in pbem since he found how easily you can got the password of your pbem opponent. GS development team worked on this and this "bug" could be fixed. Also, the GS team made possible to create a message window in case your opponent make changes on the general.txt file so you would know that your opponent is cheating.
Certainly, in CEAW pbem games you have to trust your opponent but it would be fine more security.
