DAG system and different point values

The DAG system is a great improvement for multiplayer games and it works really well.
But, thinking about solo games and considering that the AI is not greatly challenging, it seems quite useless to have a DAG system that allows to have only battles with equal points for each army.
Wouldn't be possible, at least for solo games, to add an option in order to set different values for your army and that of the AI?
It doesn't seem to be much difficult for a programmer to make this little modification

You could handycap yourself by taking less than your full points. i.e. take 400 pts in a 600 pt. game.

Brilliant Deeter

I was thinking how to set-up a mini-campaign that could incorporate disparate points values for battles and simply by setting the battle value to the higher of the two opponents solves it.

Now things are falling into place.

Well, probably I miss something..
If I play a solo game with, for instance, an army of 400 points, the DAG automatically generates a rival army of he same size.
How do I do to make the computer generate an army of 600 points?

I guess you do a 600 points army but let 200 points unexpended .
So it will be in fact a 600 army points battle, but you will have bought only a fraction of what you could buy while teh AI will expend his full allotment.

The suggestion is good but it works only partially.
Just to try I created a Pontic army of 800 points using only 617 and then opened a new game with the Seleucids.
The DAG system created an army of 665 points.
Then I created an army of 800 points using only 585 and, when challenged, the DAG system created a game of 600 points value.
In other words it seems that the program doesn't accept undersized armies and tries to balances the opponents.

I know this is suboptimal, but what about buying the full army and sticking unwanted units off in a corner where they won't get in the way. I suppose the AI would send troops after them, so maybe this won't work either...

The issue with that would be that they still contributed to the army break value - maybe a minor issue though.

oh, duh, good point.
but even if you get the points right, isn't the AI's setup screwed up enough to make games unfun? I've only played a couple DAG games against the AI for this reason--units scattered hither and yon, lights lumped with heavies, etc. It's a mess!

I'm looking more for a campaign against opponents rather than solo v AI. After a battle there would be a reduced number of point. Of course the easy approach would be to make the reduction in blocks of 50 AP's.
