More FOW in GS

One of the things about the IGO-UGO system is that the attacker has the luxury of knowing how and when all combat will occur. Further, the attacker has the advantage in the current FOW of knowing everything about a unit (efficiency, entrenchment, etc.) if the unit is spotted. I like the current spotting ranges and the ability to see all units in those ranges - that makes a lot of sense. What doesn't make much sense is that you know the same things about enemy units that your opponent does. I'd propose changing this and have discussed it with my opponent in one of the games I'm playing.
Easy change = An easy change would be that you simply (1) never have any info on efficiency and possibly entrenchment levels for enemy units or (2) don't have this info until you are in combat with those units. The way things are now, you would still get a general idea of unit efficiency by the color of the unit (white, red, etc.).
More complicated change = Even better would be if most or even all info was obscured; but with each attack you stand the chance of gaining info. And perhaps also there is an automatic reconnaissance performed at the beginning of each turn, where each of your ground or naval units would have a chance to learn something about each adjacent enemy unit. Also each of your aircraft would have a chance of learning something about all enemy units within attack range. Obviously the ground and naval units would have a better chance of learning something, while the aircraft would have only a small chance but, of course, they would have a lot more enemy units to possibly learn something about. The chance of learning something should be tied to the units quality. At the same time as you lose contact with enemy units there is a chance that you will lose the info you have on those units. If this feature was used then it would also be necessary to remove the ability to automatically be able to tell what tech level an enemy unit has advanced too.
