tumpio's Winter War

Hello everyone! I have been working on a Winter War campaing of my own. I have all missions planned and many done but not polished yet. It's a big undertaking to get them to the quality I want, so I'd like to know it there are people who are interested in it before I see more work. :)

So I finished one mission. This would be the second scenario in the campaign and features the desperate delaying actions at Suojärvi in the first days of Winter War.

Edit:
I continue to add links into new maps here. Read about the new scenarios in the latest posts.

Perkele :D I think every new campaign will be warmly welcomed here due to the lack of new official DLCs. Could you share more details about your idea for the campaign? How many missions will it include, and what will the scale of the battles be (divisional, regimental, battalion, or company-level)?

I welcome it as well. Always nice to see a different take on something you have created yourself.
Tumpio sounds like a Finnish name...?

Hmm, I might have to finish it some year. :)

There would be both regimental and battalion level missions mixed. One hex would be about 2 km and 0.5 km respectively. About 15 scenarios I think.

I want to try to stay true to the maps and to the actual units and equipment present, if possible. Also I would like to try to create new kinds of secondary objectives and maybe AI behaviour. I also like that there are multiple phases in one scenario instead of just one attack or one defence. In the posted scenario I think these are incorporated, getting extra turns for the second phase which is stopping the enemy forces after they have captured the villages. I also want it to be quite brutal, forcing you to conserve your limited resources and favor defending. In the (possible) next campaigns about Continuation War things would be different.

As a source I have been mainly using "Talvisodan taisteluja", which is a joint work by Ari Raunio and Juri Kilin, which is interesting as the book tells the events from both sides.

Tumpio is not a real name but it derived from my Finnish name. :D

Thanks for the comments! I'm also interested in doing some branching, but I know that everyone always want to just play for the best win. Still I might add it because I find it interesting historically. And I hope that on the first playthrough people just did their best and see where it gets them, without too much save loading. :)

Sure! The only problem now is to find the time to finish it. :)

I added the Suomussalmi scenario. It is version 0.1 still because it is missing pictures in the events. :)

This scenario would be fourth in the campaign. Like other scenarios in the campaign I would want this to be quite hard and have desperate feeling. There's not much to play with except your imagination. More equipment would be available in later scenarious and especially in Continuation War.

This scenario would create a branch. If Suomussalmi is regained, you get traditional Raate Road scenario. The benefit of that would be to get spoils of war to help in the rest of the campaign.

Around 14 scenarios. I'll be sure to post updates here - as long as the forums still exist, because it could take a long time. :D
