How in the world does one win this scenario?
Between the naval attacks from several directions, the overwhelming air attacks, and the fact that the Army units at the Arawe Peninsula can barely withstand the IJN Marines, it seems that defeat is foreordained. Yet I'm sure that it's been play-tested and proven possible...so it's got to be my own inability as a commander that's at fault.
Seriously, though, what's the best plan? It seems that attaining air superiority ASAP is critical, but I've only been able to achieve it over the Marine beachhead; far too many Jap planes come roaring down on the Arawe defenders. I've tried concentrating nearly all of the B-25s at the airfield, and roughly half of the fighters, but that's only slowed down the infantry attacks rather than stopped them. Tried placing several navy ships off the peninsula's shore too, but---unless the Jap bombers can be shot down, with seems impossible to do in the face of all that fighter cover---they're all eventually blasted out of the water.
(Also, I must confess, I don't know how to best deploy the ambulance jeep.
