More observations.

I've been having a great time with this game so far.
Two things I've noticed
First, I don't know if I missed this in the tutorial or not but I discovered, by accident, that you can combine units to make more powerful units. In fact I have seen the AI do just that. If you have a lot of low level units it can be a cheaper way to have a more powerful army because you only pay the upkeep on the resulting power unit plus didn't have to buy one.
Second, it appears you can have a stalemate on certain maps. If you put two level three units of two different types next to each other, they cannot be attacked. This means you could find a choke point and simply sit there. Though I doubt it would happen too often since the upkeep is so high and I doubt the AI would sit still long enough, I could see it happening between two human opponents.
I'll post more as I find them.
