Reverting AI to previous versions

I was stuck on tyranids for the longest time, as my old laptop didn't have vulkan capabilities.
The AI was dumb, but aggressive and tricky to beat on harder settings.
Now i'm playing with all the DLC to Alderi, and the AI is as dumb as a bag of rocks as utterly useless.
For example: the AI no longer scouts and captures resource hexes. It may stand a unit next to a vital resource ... AND DO NOTHING ... THe meta game of contesting those all important hexes is gone compeltely.
To win, all I have to do is survive the initial meeting (which is easy, as they run away far too early, failing to take any risks in taking down my units) and I can beat them by simple out resourcing. They don't even attempt to contest artefacts.
Is there anyway I can use previous versions of the AI?
Also, I miss my running tally of dead 'nids. An option to display various kill totals on the main screen would be nice.
All in all, the move from tryanids to Alderi seems to be a massive backwards step. If i'd started out with gameplay like Alderi, then I would not have bought any more DLC as the game is boring. that's a sin. The boards now have a grindingly regular resource hex deployment, I can mostly grab 3 with a single city. I get that these were design, fairness and balance choices, but they are detrimental to the game, which used to be about making the best of a shitty world and tenacious AI.
All you guys need to do is expand the 'options'. I'd like tyranid version resource hex, and AI, and the units and races from later DLC, please. OR if chaos or tau offered better AI, the option to play against that.
pretty please. Its not like its a huge change to the game
