It's a Machiavellian plot to confuse us as to what Byron is actually taking - confuse the enemy with disinformation and then turn up with Swiss!!!

Nigel,

What is it worth to bring the wrong figures to Southampton for Byron?

I'm feeling a might Gendarme-phobic
Apparently if you have breathalysers, a hi- vis jacket , warning triangle and a first aid kit the gendarmes don't really bother you. Much more effective than caltrops.

Hi Everyone

Firstly thank you for all your support this year, these one day events wouldn't have worked without all your help, just Southampton and then Milton Keynes to finish, obviously if you would like to see something in place for next year do not hesitate to let me know.

Anyway onto the purpose of the Post, I have everybodies armies in so I got onto doing the draw which was quite difficult due to armies selected as I like to get a historical first game, got quite a few in but not all, when I came up with an idea for game 1 in Southampton as something different. You do not have to do this and people who don't will be in a draw as close to historical as I can get it.

The option for game 1 is as follows. Is there anybody you have always wanted to play but never seem to get the chance, well issue a challenge (either on this forum) or via email to me at alasdairharley@hotmail.com, if the opponent agrees you have your first round game. Obviously several points, no picking on inexperienced players though they are allowed to pick on you and I personally don't want lots of challenges as I don't understand what 90% (the Foot) of my army does. Actually I don't mind I'll play anyone.

So there it is fun option for everyone, take it or leave it, some can take it, some can leave it

all upto you

Cheers

Alasdair

Well in that case, I fell mr Boyles should be given the opportunity to avenge his ottoman horse... ;) of course i dought he won't accept because his mounted will certainly better than mine and any foot i may have :)

So ray do accept or will you use dastardly political interege like this italians to avoid :)

Of course you could just use that old fashion easy plan of, score more pts than me and then you will be too far up the table :)

Of the four armies from these sceptered isles two are out of bounds - Anglo-Irish (being lead by the trickster mac-Heartileleagh) and the Reivers (already spoken for) - which leaves only young 'Enerie.

Coincidentally, as part of the "celebrations" of the battle of Flodden a previously unpublished extract from the personal diary of James IV was revealed in The Scotsnan newspaper yesterday:
King James IV wrote:
This morning an embassy from my gracious ally King Louis with the intelligence that the king of Engerland had broken their treaty, signed over the Papal seal(!), by invading his territoire.

Without delay, I despatched my dear and faithful Islay Herald with a formal challenge to the snivelling oathbreaker to meet in fair and open battle on Sarisbury Greene betwixt nine and ten forty of the morning on the 22nd day of September in this year of our Lord fifteen hundred and thirteen.

Loosely translated from the Latin by D Allen Esq.
There is no record of the appearance of this herald at the English court. However, we do know that with typical reluctance to face up to his sins the perfidious princeling sent the Earl of Surrey to ambush and murder this noble monarch e'er he crossed the border between their two nations.

Sad though that history may be, this new information does mean we have the opportunity to see what might have been had the appointment been kept. Albeit five hundred years late and with little metal men and dice, rather than flesh, blood and iron...

So, Don, you up for it?

Dave

Nigel,

Is that the clunk of a gaunlet or the flop of a rain-sodden glove being thrown down?

Well, as we both ended up bottom of the pile at Britcon without playing each other I suppose that it would be rude not to accept!

I look forward to both the game and your on-table banter!

Thanks Bob. As Nigel should have more than twice the number BGs I have that sounds like a good plan. :D

I shall look forward to your return banter....

it will prob be a rain sodden glove... gaunlets get too cold up north and have a black market value, so sold all of those on... Any way you wont have any mounted because the night before I will rustle the horses away...

army size: i doubt i will have more than twice the number of battlegroups... ive brought expensive troops... "Averages" not a "poor" in sight... so I am afraid its a small army... <20 BGs :)

Cheers
