I would take a more active approach.

gather your resources,
write a new version yourself.
try it out (very important this, my first attempt to write a revised list made the interaction worse not better!)

put it up on the forum, listen to the critisism and see what is said.

I have found that thse i have spoken to or have posted to my comments to be open to other views especially if you can reason it well

however remember everyone has thier own favorite list, Richard, Terry, Nik and the others have to make the hard choices, whereas we can premote our own favorites without the same level of critisism

so my advice: write a revised version, play a couple of games with it. then post it in the forum player-designed lists and see what comments get made.

(I for one will read whatever the list, though i am no expert on Byzantine history so will probably just keep to how the interactions may play out)

Actually, as far as the Byzantines are concerned there are a lot more than two people convinced that the lists need to be amended, especially the Nikephorian, and to a lesser extent the Early and Maurikians. There was a tremendous amount of discussion about this when Decline and Fall first came out and that discussion was what helped lead to the creation of the Player-Designed List forum. The main issue with the Byzantines is that there is a tremendous amount of information available about the Nikephorians and it is the interpretation of that information that is the core of the issue. Many of us feel the list authors were too inflexible with the interpretation of some of the data and that alternative interpretations should have been allowed in the list. We hope by presenting convincing alternative evidence to allow modifications to the lists to be made in the future.
