Grahamed Uyghur (840-1046) (GaoChang) (3% losses) staved off the Imperial Japanese invasion by ArmchairBaron Japan (795-1040ad) with Chinese Song (1005-1060ad) allies (43% losses)
Our true Chinese heroes sallied forth from the water margins , not even fully clearing the vast bodies of water before the Baron's Japanese invaders were sighted.
The armies drew up woods and some rough ground on our left , a small but impassable lake on the edge of Japans deployment zone and another larger wood on our far right on their side of the field.
Several of our eager merry infantry band drew up centre left, with many of our cavalry to their left and our heavy cataphracts behind those cavalry, all supported by our archers. on our right our bow armed gonqi horsemen and their Youqi light horse stared across the plain at these strange looking Japanese invaders.
The bulk of the proud mounted samurai drew up on the enemies right, with their experienced elite infantry in the centre, backed up by their artillery divisions and a vast array of battalions of mixed infantry, some of good experienced, but some hardly out of puberty!

Trumpets sounded, drums beat and the Armies advanced on each other, the proud and mighty Mounted Samurai raced around the back of the lake , hurtling toward our brave lads on their good Chinese horses. Our lads advanced toward the samurai, but waiting a little to let the massed archers keep up and not getting too far ahead of their heavier cataphract Jiaqi brothers.
In the centre the artillery and heavier infantry of japan and her allies pushed forward, whilst our merry band of war ran to support their cavalry brothers on their left.
Our Gonqi feigned a little forward on the centre and right, then made all speed toward the left, behind their infantry colleagues.
The mixed Japanese battalions and their allies pushed a little forward then tried (in vain) to keep up with the Gonqi as the Gonqi melted away.
The Samurai hurled themselves into our cavalry and one of their number burst through our line pursuing our shattered heroes off into the far left of the field. The other Samurai fared less well, under a hail of arrows, charged by our lancers they fought bravely on until one by one either surrounded by our cavalry or overwhelmed by our heavy cataphracts they fled, broken.
In the centre our merry warbands turned to their right heading into the enemy infantry in front of the lake. Against the enemies elite troops they fought bravely but could never hope to win....
But what is this mighty General Pan Xiu and his Jiaqi cataphracts can see their plight and our glorious cavalry commander urges his experienced men forward as they hurl themselves into the fray against the enemies best! ... Still the melee runs on many a hero falling on both sides, until.. what now... our noble lancers flushed by their success against the samurai rush forward, some riding right round the back of the lake and sweep away the artillery finally overwhelming the enemies elite forces.
Too much for the mixed battalions to hold now the invasion has faltered, the water margins awash with much blood and fallen heroes, at least no one will be eating Sushi in our village tonight!
Thanks for the game baron good fun and actually very close for the most part, but, as you pointed out once the cavalry battle on my left went my way the balance changed.
