Ok, I've closed entries and set up the divisions and matches for the tourney.
A review of the methodology used this time around first. Generating battle match-ups in the game is very time consuming as you have to go through all the steps, then manually type the names of the resulting armies into the tourney records. This season, I made up a master list of all 286 armies by combing through the DLC info and patch notes and cross checking vs. the army list in the game to fill in any missing. Next, using the random number generation website, I generated a set of numbers for 160 matches, far more than I expected I'd need for the season. I set a maximum of 3 duplicates for any one list and regenerated a few extra numbers to fill out the set. Then, I went through the number list and copied and pasted matching army lists into the master match up list of 160 battles.
After sign-ups closed today, I sorted the players into three divisions of 9, with the top 9 returning players assigned to division one, the remaining veterans in division two, plus rookies in order of signing up filling out the slots. The remaining rookies went into division 3. Next, I made a list of match-ups for each division, alternating assignments of player 1 and player 2. This time around, we ended up with 36 matches per division for a total of 108.
Last, I generated another set of 108 random numbers to match a battle to each player match up with no duplicates allowed.
I will post each division's match up list as a separate post.
You are free to start your games as soon as you like. You have 8 battles to fight this season, so I'm going to set the deadline to finish at 9 weeks on Mon, Oct 5.
Please post challenges and battle reports in this forum. Remember to PM your opponent after you set up a challenge on the server.
