Supervark wrote:Ok I have only just started playing FOG in the last few weeks. And I think it is a superb game. There are a couple of things I would like to see incorperated in the next expansions on the game playing side.
1 Make all armies in all expansion packs playable against each other. I know it is not historical but it would be fun. Would love to see the romans take on the early crusaders and other match ups of that ilk.
2 Let you chose what size army you want to fight against. Eg you have 400 points but give the AI 800 points or only 200 points depending on the type of army.Yes you are supposed to have balance but sometimes you need a bigger challenge and other times you just want to slaughter .
3 A better break down of losses on individual units and who inflicted them at the end of the game not just the break points.
4 Lastly be able to keep track of what battles you have won annd lost against the AI with what army, what size and what terrain was used.
I am not intrested in playing multi player online but I do enjoy the single player mode and these tweaks I would like to see as an option in forth coming expansions.
1) you can already do this in either MP or playing the dag's vs the AI, I believe you just need to use a drop down to let the AI select any army randomly from any book you own.(or you can slect any army for the AI
2) you can do this although it is kind of a pain: when creating a new army, select say 1000 AP'S, howver only purchase for example, 500 ap's worth of troops. (you get a little warning when you save and exit the purchase screen, ignore it)
Then, when you fight a DAG battle vs the ai, make sure you select that army and the AI will buy 1000 ap's of troops vs your 500 worth
Ideally they should just update the game GUI to allow you to select the ai force size instead of tricking the system, but there it is .
3 and 4 would be nice

Thanks for the reply. Have not been able to use the DAG to fight armies from other expansions it will only let you pick armies from the expanision you created your army from.

. As for the points systm its a bit complicated just to fool the AI but thanks for the tip.

Uhh this might be an odd ?, but you do own and have installed more than one expansion right? When you chose new battle, at the top you select DAG army and you chose which army book you want to use and then all your saved armies will populate, then the very ist option box below that is "ai army" which has a drop down that displays all the DAG books you own. Chose one and then you can either let the AI random;ly chose one of the armies from that book, or you can select the specific one you want. Hope that helps!

Rosseau wrote:I understand your passion, CharlesRobinson, but I don't think coming out with all the expansions will save the game. But only the devs would know that for sure based on the loyal customer base that includes you. Would the Paradox model of Darkest Hour and Iron Cross work here? Are there modders with the capabilities if the code is released? I can say that DH and to a lesser extent IC were bargains for me.
And yes, I would certainly go back to buying FoG expansions if castles and ladders were included

Now I like the idea of castles, fortifications and siege equipment. This area has been neglected far too long. The ones that have are more arcade (fire a few volleys from catapults and watch the walls tumble) vice realistic models.

Thanks GM, I own all the expansions they have released so far. Am looking forward to the two new ones. I see how to make the AI selections now. The explaination is very much appriciated GM. Can now fight Romans and Crusaders and all the other armies as well cheers.

That would be good orcs against scots highlanders or arab camelry. Which would smell worse the orcs or the camels?

FOG R is already out with six army books and main rule book. I have one last book to buy for that one.
FOG N is supposed to start coming out sometime between December and March.
No word on FOG F.

I was thinking of the Digital versions not the TT.

I wouldnt go that far, but I do hope they consider it!
From the article:
http://www.wargamer.com/articles/editor ... -3007.html
"Field of Glory
Field of Glory, by Hexwar, represented by Eric Skea. Already out for a while this PC version of the tabletop ancient warfare system is a huge commercial success with the base game already seeing 5 add-ons.
A lot of things are planned for this series: up next will be Eternal Empire featuring the Ottomans
but the main surprise was that a fantasy version is on the way. And yes, you will be able to let your Orc army fight the Romans if you so choose to. Magic capabilities will be limited to generals, with area and individual unit effects. For the more historically inclined gamer there’s also potentially good news: the often requested jump forward in time to
the Renaissance might see the light of day but as this period would not really fit well in the original engine design a completely new engine is being considered. On the language front a German and Italian localized version is planned. A final surprise was that they’re planning to release a small iPad game as well as a kind of testing ground for a possible release of Field of Glory on the tablet platform."

I'm against releasing "Lost scrolls" as a separate expansion. I think most of the armies there should be made available through patches for the correct "period" expansion owners (Etruscans for the Immortal Fire owners, Vietnamese for the Empires of the Dragon owners etc.)
