Sadly I would make you do that by sticking a LH BG in front of your Knights if you pass or fail the test you still have to take it and that itself stops you doing a number of things with them. Its horses for courses as Phil says thats what good about wargames even with the same army people model and play it different. There is no wrong way just the way that suits you(that sounds way good this morning) :)

Depends where you put the knights, you'd want to keep them for the last deployment and put them down somewhere where they can be screened, you'd definately want to keep them as backup for a group of cav or light horse of your own, gives them cover and means that your frontal troops can act with a bit more fervor and impunity.

Not sure this works as if I'm playing you I would figure that the Knight BG will be coming down last, so I would plan for that.

If you are fighting Mongols then your LH will have to chase away the mongol LH in front of the knoghts first, so you will need some decent LH> Of course you could use some cavalry to chase the LH away :). In a mongol army it should be possible for the KN's to stay 6 inches away from any enemy and double move until they get to where they want to fight.
