A few tournament related questions.
1. What is the schedule of digital league tournaments? Is it once every 3 months, twice yearly, etc.?
3 times a year starting on 1/2, 1/6 and 1/10. Tournament lasts for 10 weeks and usually a few extra days.
2. Is there a way I can sign up to receive an email to my gmail account when a new tournament is starting up? I am not always on these forums, and me checking periodically means I might miss the notification.
Not for the Digital League. Invitations go out mid-January, mid-May and mid-September so you need to put that in your diary.
3. Has there ever been any thought to break up the tournaments? For example, one time do the Middle Ages (High and Early) and then the next time do Antiquities (Classical and Late). To keep the same number of tournaments just do them twice as often (but with half the formats). So, for example, if currently digital league tourneys are every 4 months, we could alternate between the two "ages" every 2 months instead. I think this would allow for greater participation by those (like me) who cannot allocate enough time to compete in many formats all simulataneously.
No. I will not be changing the format. Out of 52 weeks in the year, I have around 32 weeks actually running the tournaments, 6 weeks in preparation for the tournaments and 3 weeks doing the records and statistics for the tournaments. The other 11 weeks I take a break, which I absolutely do need.
PS - I LOVE the ability to play in these tournaments and love the support everyone gives to them. I know it's a lot of work, and I wanted to extend my sincerest gratitude!
Regards,
~Jason
Thanks.

Captainwaltersavage defeats Joggy 47:16
Chinese (Sui) 582-617 AD v Chinese (Chen) 557-589 AD
The battle just says Chinese A vs Chinese B so I'm not sure which one I won as. I had all the heavy cataphracts - I'll update when I work it out. The battlefield was mainly a wide open plain, which should have been great for the cavalry but having learned how easy it is to shoot them up I hid in the woods near my baseline until I could see what I was up against. A very tentative approach from both of us until I could not restrain myself any longer and burst forwards. I managed to shoot enough missiles to get the enemy on the backfoot and then my cataphracts and lancers had to be brave and charge out against the advancing foe. They got shot a lot but enough survived to crash into the enemy and the heavy cavalry finally worked as they always promise. It was like the ride of Rohan as they smashed everything in their path (we will overlook the poor blighters that got shot to death, as today they were in the minority for a change).
Edit: I was playing the Sui

Thrust, parry, riposte. A pretty straight up fight where the armies could actually see each other unobscured by a dense cloud of light foot. Salute!

Pyrrhic phalanx fought a great fight causing the African Spears to lose the will to fight soon after initial contact. Pyrrhic forces managed to keep their formation and defeat enough enemy before the threat on their left flank could make an impact. GG

A classic cavalry (supported by infantry) vs infantry battle. Yes, his Med infantry tried to play its role and did but it was the Endless Heavy Cavarly assaults that my men will remember. I held a strong position with my right on the river's edge and my left on a forest giving phlewis the horse lord few options. GG, Thanks.
