I doubt that they would contemplate such an idea until he gets three strikes. The previous one had allowed Cuba to fall well and truly into the Soviet sphere of influence, commited the US to the (at the time) rediculous goal of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth, and nearly provoked world war three. Somebody had to stop him before he did something even more disastrous. Making a comment about the "Special Olympics" isn't quite in the same league.

Moderator hat on.

May be best to avoid this discussion carrying on along this line chaps, as it has great possibility of going well OT and even getting nasty.

You may be interested to know this is NOT the first british invasion of Alexandria.

In 1814 the city surrendered to British forces when they occupied the area. To spare the town a ransom was paid of tobacco, flour, cotton and sugar.

Often wondered why there was never a home internationals for wargaming back in the UK, or even better include Les Francais & have a 5 nations tournament.

And they burned government buildings in Washington, an outrage to Americans at the time but a redo would probably poll very favorably today.

And wine I believe - naturally. Though 'ransom was paid' is a politeness. I believe our jolly jack tars came to the warehoues and took it - albeit that it was agreed they could do so. And of course there was the earlier British invasion of the 1600s too.
