The extra names are Phillip Jelley (Oxford) and Richard Lyndsey. With King Alfred (almost seeded based on last years triumphs) giving us another place with 19, an extra one is always acceptable and would bring us to 20.
Just a reminder that amongst the flood of lists (why did I volunteer..) the Plymouth contingent are absent.... I am considering an award for the most creative choice and also the most linked to Belgarum...Winchester for those who didn't do there latin....Capitol of the Belgae tribe in Roman days.
We are getting names in for Dinner as well for the Saturday night so please let me know.

The lists are due with me at
dcbannister@aol.com by 12th February please.
The earlier note clearly stated that those submitted after the deadline, unless the umpire authorises this for extraordinary reasons, the player will receive a penalty by having to deploy their entire army in the first game regardless of who won the initative. first moves and terrain etc are still decided by Pre battle initiative. So please get in your lists!
Did it work?

Pete, - all lists in and aside from a few minor tweaks back and forth, all sorted.
So yes it did work!
The draw is done.... so with a small fanfare please for the greatest of the South's Wargamers and their choice of weapon... (plus Scotland's!)
1. Pete Barlett of Plymouth, Kofu Naru vs David Fairbrother of Sarisbury Dailami.
2. David Bannister of Wessex, Kofu Naru vs Ian Carbutt of Sarisbury Classical Indian.
3. Pete Dalby of Sarisbury, Late Republican Rome vs Phillip Jelley of Oxford, Arab Conquest.
4. Alan Cutner of Scotland, Early Zhou Chinese vs Ian Newell of Sarisbury, Early Medieval French.
5. David Fairhurst of Oxford, Early Achaemenid Persian vs Martyn Simpson of Wessex, Dailami.
6. Lance Flint of Farnborough , Norse Irish, vs Derek Bartlett of Plymouth, Kyrenian Greek.
7. Richard Jeffrey-Cooke of Farnborough, early Successor, vs Linda Fairhurst of Oxford, Palmyran
8. David Pitt of Plymouth, Kyrenian Greek vs Alfred King of Wessex, Dominate Roman.
9. Steve Brown of Plymouth, Classical Indian vs Colin Beulain of Wessex, carolingian French.
10. John Akers of London, Seleucid, vs Richard Lindley of Wessex, Seleucid.
Start time is 0900 registration, 0930 start prompt.
For those interested the draw was done like last year using the most recent BHGS rankings to provide seeds 1-10, who were then randomly drawn against the 11-20 placed players. Surprisingly I didnt get any club vs club issues - we endeavour to avoid these for day one .
There is a Starbucks and sainsbury's in the same carpark area.We will have tea and coffee as well on the go plus there is a licensed bar on site for that essential post game one refresher. Please ensure you put your registration number in the book at the Badger Farm community centre on arrival.
There will be a meal out in Winchester, all attending along with partners are welcome - current favourite is the new Stable Inn with its Belgarum themed 'Pies and Pizzas'- and 30 ciders on sale. I just can't get enough of the Lizzy bee sting so my umpiring may be less than subtle on Sunday.
cheers David

Excellent - well done David. Looks to be a good spread of armies and some interesting 1st round match-ups.
We have all the riders but we seem to be missing a few runners? A special dispensation if you are from Farnborough perhaps?

with seedings being 1-10 shouldn't the tournament be renamed 'bunny bashing'?
britcon was always 'spoilt' as I had to hang around waiting to avoid the seeds.....

Well, as the seeds are to 25 in the rankings, and the second ten include many ranked players it will be interesting.
I bet not all of the seeds will win.

Not sure I'll win my first game. I think up against the worst possible army to oppose mine.

And yet here are we today - Paul Johnston - seeded 12th in the country. And didn't he come 3rd at the last Worlds in Lisbon? Ahead of quite a few people seeded higher than him?
Methinks he doth protest too much!

Haha that made me laugh.. except I was trying to speak up on behalf of the little people.. like my friend Jeremy Corbyn I was protesting on behalf of the downtrodden and lowly folks who are often forgotten by their betters..... I would make the seeds all play each other and help the lower ranks to have a chance to sneak ahead early on.....
Any how having Alan of Scotland as a seed is fun... his last game implosions are becoming more and more regular!
Shame its too far darn sarff for me at this time!

A great weekend's wargaming - thanks very much to David, Martyn and the rest of the Winchester Club for organising and hosting a very well run event.
Thanks also to Phil, Lance, Steve & Alan for 4 excellent games - the last one vs Alan was a real nail-biter and could have gone either way.
Hope to be there again next year.
