This is confusing. I have never had to deal with this. I'll try and get an answer to you as soon as I can.

oh oh, my problem again!

I made a british tanktransport Scammel. Named it ukxx and connected it only to a few tank units. When I play the Low Country scenario and want to purchase a AA gun, the Scammel shows also up as possible transport. Why why why????

Should work if you give your tank-tranports a single, unique category, e.g. "tank", that only your selected tanks have. If undesired units also have access then either the tank-transports have no defined category, thus using default "land" category, or your tank-transports still have multiple categories somehow.
Maybe you mess up something with spaces and tabs in your e-file that such mistakes happen sometimes. I copy&paste quite often from Excel to the e-file and haven't had any issues so far yet though. If you still can’t figure it out, upload your equipment.pzeqp file here!

When I copy your sheet into the game’s e-file, I also see the Scammel for wrong units.
I modified the e-file a bit here and there, but can’t really figure out exactly what’s wrong yet.
When I simply copy only your UK part into a vanilla e-file, your Scammel works fine for your selected units.

I don’t know yet. At moment, I suggest you try to reduce your transport categories and keep the names short. I’ve only tested once 50 additional categories with numbers and not long names yet, what seems to have worked, but I also get more and more doubts about that test now when I try your e-file.
You don’t need so many different category-names for each nation. One tank-transport could also carry every other nation’s tank, for example, similar infantry and towed guns with horse-carts, trucks, tractors, etc. Only the general towing/weight capacity should matter.
Like I mentioned once here, I use weight categories which work very fine for all nations. Next to 1 1.5 3 5 8 12 18, I use "horse" "mule" and "lland" for light inf transports like the SdKfz 250 and Bren Carrier. I don't use the inaccurate "lightpull", "heavypull" vanilla categories anymore. I’ve already tested "tank" as another category for possible tank-transports which worked fine too…so far.

Thanks voor your help and time so far Horst. Strange that all the German stuff works fine and the only one British is messing isn't it? Thanks again for your help.

Razz1 wrote:If you have land, that unit will use any land transport, so not necessary to have unique transport type.
for example the 88mm gun has heavy pull so the only transports that it can use are the ones that have heavypull. It can not use any land transport because it does not have land.

Hint ^^

What do your AA units have?

I didn't change anything, only add one british unit, the Scammel. Gave this a Transport Category name and put that name in the useble transports of a few units· Strange things happend than. The Scammel shows up with AA guns but also normal trucks by M3-M5 tanks? Horst checked the file and can not find mistakes. A strange thing is that if he copies only the Britisch section in a plane Equipment file it will work fine. But in the reworked equipment file with a lot of new german units that work oke, the British Scammel will not work.

land = it uses all land transport, therefore you can never add a transport unit to the game otherwise all units with that trait will use it.

To prevent that... each unit must have a unique or shared transport.

Not only do your British troops need a shared transport but so do all units in the game.

Assign them a lightpull or heavypull

If I counted correctly, you use 30 new transport categories so far.
When I remove the "MB4500" category from German transport and units, the Scammel seems to work.
I’ve once replaced all your tank-transport categories (x, xx, sx, sxx, ukxx) with only two shared ones for German and British units, but that didn’t really helped either. I thought this could have already helped if there is actually a possible limit, but not yet somehow. It's strange because removing the "MB4500" category already helped somehow. I guess you would have to reduce more and more categories until all units work.
Earlier, I also had removed all your plenty remark lines with the column titles, but that wasn’t the problem too.
By the way, you can split and fix some top lines in the Excel sheet to always show the column titles, so you don’t need to repeat them. I'm still using an old version, so I don't know if these features are still in the window menu.
Also, you don’t need separate transport categories for bonus units. Land units with bonus trait normally only look for land transports with bonus trait of the same nation.

I'm still pretty clueless what's wrong in your e-file. Maybe it's totally something else what I haven't noticed yet. I'd also like to know if there are things and limits to pay attention. It would suck if you don't have the freedom to add all kind of new units.

Thanks again Horst for your time and thinking. I understand that it is easy to make only a few categories of transports. But to force the player to use different transports for eyecandy, historical view and to prevent to see only the best transports in the game I was wishing to make very many transports in the game but litte choice for every fighting unit. Thats why so many transport categories are added by me. Maybe I have to forget it and make only a few categories.

I’ve found a mistake: you don’t have any German default category "land" transport anymore. "land" is still used for some German towed guns in your e-file.
First, I replaced the category "OB" and "SSOB" with "land". Unfortunately, the Scammel still screwed up.
Then I removed the unused "q" and "qq" category, the Scammel seem to work. Unfortunately, if you add whatever other category again somewhere, the mistakes reappear.
I’ve also seen that some SS units/transports lack the "bonus" trait. Just be sure that all categories at Usable Transports are supported
Well, I see no other way than to reduce the number of transport categories at moment to remove the mistakes. My 10 extra categories work so far.
I don’t know how much the game freaks out if a nation has no "land" transport anymore, so better keep the "land" or simply keep the category empty somewhere on at least one normal and one bonus transport. All my transports also have a category defined, and I also still added "land" to some like the Opel Blitz S/A/Maultier.
