Though I am never sure if that's a good thing for us individually, obviously its good for the competition and for us as it means we play a good range of armies which I like, but from an individual perspective it means no ones chosen the same list as me so does that mean my lists not as good as I thought it was, I hope not, I can't wait to play my army, I've never seen the army before and get to see it on the day and a big thanks to Jim for lending it to me as I wanted to try out something different, so get those lists in so we can all see what the oppositions got, and by the way I lent Nigel his army and if mine and his are anything to go by the range of armies will be wide both geographically and in troop types

A spread of armies is always good fun, nothing worse than traveling to a comp to play four games of civil war... No pun intended... I suspect attack at devises will fall fow of this...

Ps: haven't clue on how to use the army kindly borrowed from alasdair... But will certainly fun

I think this is one of the themes we are still learning as it comes up only about once a year, and a variety of armies can do well, for example last year an all mounted army (Tatar)came first and an all foot (Irish) army second

Gents, thanks to everyone for getting your lists in promptly. We didn't quite get to 16 different armies, but those which are duplicated are quite different to each other in both cases. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.

Going to be fun... Be interesting to see how people have interpeted the lists, espicially where there are two list choices the same, but combos are diverse.

Well as one of the two Scottish players a quick look at the dates will tell you that mine is the Flodden Scottish list with armoured pike and I'm guessing Steve will have Unarmoured pike but with a French ally so he can squeeze in up to 4 BG's of French Gendarmes to give some cavalry punch!

As regards the two Later Imperial Austrian and German, who can predict what madness and obscure composition that Dave Allen will concoct! I'm sure Brian will be normal but Dave's army will be "off the wall"!!

I don't control the draw, but the usual BHGS method is to have a random first round, but keeping people from the same club apart.

don't let them, take over arrange some excellent historical first round battles and who evers left gets to travel to India, Indonesia, Japan or Adal on a tourist visa, last year my Tatars were affronted and insulted as they were left with the indignaty of being invaded by the Irish, how embarrassing is that,

To be honest there's such a variety of armies that there isn't much scope for historical matchups, it would end up something like:

Poles v Hungarians (not sure if they ever fought but they're the same date and not too far apart)
Swiss v Venetian (probably reasonable)
Japanese v Indonesian (starting to stretch the credibility a bit now)
Flanders Carolines v Danish (recreating the infamous Cheese and Bacon war)
Adal v Mughal (For the title of best army ending in "AL")
2 Austrians v Irish and Spanish (No idea what that would be)
Which leaves the 2 Scottish armies to fight amonst themselves, which is their default option in the absence of other opponents

Difficult I know, but it would all be worth it to know who finally won the Cheese & Bacon war, The irish could fight the spanish who kept landing their by accident when they missed England, or the scots who kept sending settlers over their as well, to be fair we'll all wait with bated breath till the draw, and to be fair who hasn't invaded Poland so I could play anyone

I'm happy to play Japanese, thinking of takeda 1560s list... Maybe even in 25mm for the gush factor at farn borough... Although its tight one against 17bgs of scot covenanter at 650pts

I'd be inclined to put the Austrians up against the Poles/Hungarians and have the Irish and Spanish play each other or face off against the Scotch.

Given that would mean a 50:50 chance of facing Alasdair in the first round I'm more than happy with a random draw...
