ianow your problem is the download has not completed. It definitely works on the Slitherine version and we've fixed it so it works on Matrix and are uploading now. It will be there in 40 mins.

Just to clarify that I have had the same error on trying to install the download as Scutarii. My FOG base version is Matrix, RoR and SoA and all subsequent patches have been Slitherine.

A little question... is normal that all units have 300 soldiers strenght??? HF, MF and L-units in RoR and SoA.... this is now a little.... strange.

Yeah, they made it part of the patch.....

Speaking of the patch, how will it effect ongoing games? Obviously double moves wouldnt suddenly work but will other changes/tweaks take effect?

Ufff i dont like it, i think that reduce a little numbers in SoA could be fine but not in RoR and doing all units equal in the number of soldiers, see now the old 40.000 soldier army reduce to a patetic 10.200 is  really, if numbers not means nothing and is only a estetic feature do it well and dont this "fix" expect a return to the old numbers at least were less ugly than new numbers if cant change numbers per army pack all using RoR old standar is better than actual

EDIT: i test double moves VS AI and can say that i dont like it, i am going to avoid double moves, really they fix anarchy charges feature and break camp points (now see battles is more difficult and play with double moves dont help) and break the logical size in BG

The old numbers were the strange ones without any real reason behind them. FoG PC is based on FoG TT where stands of different troop types all have roughly the same strength (excluding things like elephants and artillery) and FoG PC didn't make any of the changes in the combat mechanisms that should have been required if different BGs represented substantially different numbers of troops. The DAG lists adopted from FoG TT are also based on this assumption and weren't changed to correspond to the old 1500/1000/500 numbers used previously in FoG PC. Just think how much fun it would be to run Mid Republican Romans if you had to pay for 3 velite BGs for each pair of hastati/pricipes. You'd end up with substantially less HF in a normal MRR army at a given point total.

I buy a PC game not the TT game, for me all units with 300 soldiers is talking clear a stupid change a 10.000 soldiers army is patetic in RoR in SoA is more close but fix one and break the rest...

17 new battles and not a single one covering the SoA time frame - disappointing.

Thanks Iain. I downloaded the patch onto a memory stick and transfered to the new laptop. After a couple of aborted attempts it seems to be working now. Fingers crossed.

Thank goodness for the new automatic downloader!

PS Excellent patch :)

1) The 300 BG strength is based upon the Table Top game designers advice.
2) The BG strength numbers are always abstract as the game always scales down from 100% of the start strength, whatever it is. If you do not like counting from 300 use the option in the preferences menu for %.
3) When building a scenario you can set the base strength to anythng you like so this has no effect on historical battles.
4) The new scenario's are all user submitted. There is a dearth of user submitted SOA battles.

ยท Change: The anarchy scores required to pass a CMT test to be reduced by one. This effectively reduces the change of anarchy charges.
Does this change apply to all CMTs or only for anarchy/impetuous charges? (Other anarchy CMTs include charging with a disrupted, non-shock BG or with bow/crossbow armed MF.) Hopefully the change was only for anarchy charges since that was the original issue.

I downloaded, installed and had a quick play.

Some early points:

1. Install went well.
2. What does it mean on the front screen when it says: Preloaded: ROR. I haven't bought that army pack.
3. Clicking on the in-game help icon (the book), results in a flickering screen. Goes away when closed. BTW - why is there never any information on that screen?
4. I am confused by the 300 size battlegroups. I loaded up a few standard scenarios (such as Pharsalus) and the old sizes were still there.
5. In MP - the results screen is confusing. In mine it said I had 7 results (in brackets), but there were far more listed on the screen.
6. In MP - the results screen is confusing. Some results are listed in bold some not. Do they represent won and lost games. This is possibly so, I seem to remember that the games I won were the ones not in bold, but I could be wrong.

Hope this helps, and thanks for the patch.

I would expect the developer of the game to submit new scenarios and not to rely on the users as there were also not too many SoA scenarios in the initial release. Just my opinion.
