If you mean FoG:R that'd be beer for nothing as he isn't involved in those - therefore, please direct the beer at me :D
I suspect Hammy is still waiting to collect on his bet that he will restrain himself from buying any of the army list books for another Ancient/Medieval rules system.

Nik

:)

If you have the FoG:R army lists ready by then you can certainly have a beer or two. I might even buy one of them.

Hammy's crate is if he wins the bet (he does not buy the DBM 4.0 Army List books within a year of them being published).

Pat

Sorry to hijack your interesting thread with such trivialities as beer and gambling.

Dave (not the other one - my god this is confusing)

It was Pat's LHN idea that I was going to steal as they give me some options, as well as getting an army off the unused list.

Tatar may get a try out in friendlies.

Richard - Spot on.

However I do plan to run round Britcon Benny Hill style, waving a copy of the army lists at Hammy to see if he will buy them... :)

I would consider trying to find a way to get a TC up to an IC and or bulking up to a 12th BG.
I tried your suggestion and I think it is a case of either the IC or the 12th BG.

What I came up with was:

1 IC
2 TC
4x4 Best Equiped Cavalry Armoured Sup Drilled Bow Swordsman
7x4 Light Horse Unprotected Sup Drilled Bow Swordman
11 BGs

OR

3 TC
4x4 Best Equiped Cavalry Armoured Sup Drilled Bow Swordsman
8x4 Light Horse Unprotected Sup Drilled Bow Swordsman
12 BGs

Can you not get some unprotected superior drilled cavalry? Saves 24pts a BG. As good as armoured if you use it for the right things.

The right thing being chasing LH around the table, but this being in one rank is a pain not as much as being hit on at 3s in two ranks. Being four bases wide they will still recieve 4 hits from 2 BGs of LH to their front, I know they are superior but....

I have used them before and IMO I would rather use the points to upgrade them but thats just my impresssion maybe other people can get them to work.... :)

Perhaps you will find out on Monday?

I would downgrade some of the LH to average if you needed some points. I can see some Super LH being quite handy, but you can get away with some average. IMO it is not the shooting bonus of superior that is worth the AP, it is the impact/melee advantage against other LH.

Its that they don't die after losing 2 bases from 4 that is the biggest advantage

If your taking an IC I would downgrade your LH to average as they will gain +2 from your IC againist shooting and you should'nt be fighting with them till your at an advantage in combat.

I would use this option as I think an IC is a waste when every BG is Superior.

Definitely keep the LH superior, it's more fun that way

Correct me if I am wrong....but...
at 798 Points I manage to get

1xIC
2xTC
8x4 LH Unprot/Drilled/Sup./Bow/Swordsmen
4x4 Cv Armoured/Drilled/Sup./Bow/Swordsmen
1x Fortified Camp

Now this is just playing with point values so if in fact you cannot have something here then just chuck my theory out completely. I would take the IC just for the command range he brings and that lovely +2...but thats just me personally and I'm still a noob

The error must be with the superior LH. If tehy were average the answer would be 798
