I like the unit with the wolf skins more as well. I wish the packs came with more of them. I'd prefer both units to have a majority with wolf skins. That's the picutre in my head that comes up when I think of Velites. Thanks for the compliments.

Since they're so generic I can probably use them for other armies easily so I guess that's the silver lining.
I prefer generic figures. Just thought someone else should suffer the funny hats as well.
I often go for a mix of generic and non-generic. For really high impact/visibility units I like non-generics. If you are doing Teutonic Knights, paint up the military order guys in the right kit. The less interesting/noticeable guys hanging in the back, less so. I use almost completely non-describe Hordes/Mobs as who even really looks at those guys (not to mention i knock them onto the floor at least once a game...)?
I looked closely at an opponent's mob once. It consisted largely of nekkid females in the tradition of Frank Frazetta. Forgot to ask him who made them.

But yes, you could probably run F&IW rangers as mobs and not too many people would notice.

Where are these Thureophoroi from? OG15s too?
I didn't found them as bag of 24 miniatures but only as FoG battlegroup deal.
I never had the courage to order them without picture.

This is indeed the OG15s Battle Group pack. Contains 24 figures, 3 poses. The only complaint I had was one pose had spears that were very weak above the hand. On the unit I'm painting now I actually cut 2 off and re-drilled the hands to replace the spears with wire replacements. The detail on these is a little softer than some of the other figures in this line.

They're easier to paint than a lot of others because the cloak is wrapped around the body making short work of the bulk of the painting.
