I see many new/similar games developed, so resources to implement new things can be found. At least they can read that we want it :)
Thanks Buddy

every little bit counts

At this point we are hopefully getting someones attention.   :P

I think, Battlefield Europe could work as a standalone game with a graphics engine of OOB (I do not know now better).
With some new features, like an optional much more complex supply system. And of course, better AI as in PzC (Although with scripts it is not so bad).
The problem is, that I'm no programmer. I would gladly work on it as a game/scenario designer, but that is not enough.

Small point, the Dev [Flashback, Rudankort] does not own the game.
The publisher [Slitherline] owns the game.

This is a business decision by Slitherline,
Rudankort is in a no win position commenting on this.

slitherine would lose PzC2 customers if "PzC 1.5" was developed.

why can't PGF/open general/panzer marshall use PzC level .graphics? the "engine" for combat/unit purchase seems fine.
its just the graphics are so lo res i can't see whats going on
(in PzC2 the graphics are so hi res i can't see whats going on)
is their engine just a copy of Panzer General II? who owns that?

anyway i would pay money for it (safe to say it won't happen)
does code ever "escape" to freedom? developers/programmers don't
the only comparable thing i can think of is they released the code for "civilization: call to power"

As far as I remember, Rudankort was the person behind PGF!

He then went on to be the lead developer for Panzer Corps 1 for publisher slitherine and together with TheLordz (graphics). And even published some "semi-official/private" patches for the modding community of PzC 1 (up to semi-official version 1.32).

Now he is the owner? of Flashback Games, which developed Panzer Corps 2 pretty much on their own (with slitherine as the publisher).

Imho PzC 2 has lots of potential, even if it does not fit everyones taste or use-case.
Anyway, I'm more than happy with all that Rudankort did for the PzG/PzC community over all those years!
And not to forget, people are still working on PzC 1 mods, myself included!

Sounds like an awesome idea... unfortunately, nobody even replies in this thread or in the one with the ~100 improvement ideas)))

Or to the problems of apple users. Who just made purchases and can't access a good portion of what they just bought.

Or to the people who bought lots of DLCs for PzC and had to rebuy everything they already had, when the Gold edition came out and replaced everything else...
Same thing that happened to those who bought Distant Worlds 1 + DLCs for ~100$, and then had to rebuy everything with DW1: Universe.

Those business practices are one of the reasons why I do not make a pledge in this thread, only to have to pay for everything again for a "Platinum edition", if I just miss some arbitrary several weeks long window...

Why do they need your tips if they can make tens of thousands of dollars on Panzer Corps 2!? And this is not yet the DLC Panzer Corps 2: Pacific addon) But I will invest $ 100 to the membership of fans and fans if someone makes even better Panzer Corps one ! ;)

$2350. Now we are still cooking with this post. I know it is not garnering a response. I just have seen Panzer Battles. That seems to be an actual worthy successor to Panzer Corps. More than PC2 anyway. What do the rest of you think? Has anyone else played it?

It looks fine, but if I have to look twice or three times to identify if an unit is friend or enemy I discard it, 2D + left/right + grey/green units, this was the success factor in PG/PC, for the same reason chess pieces are white/black, key is the strategy no look&feel.

I've had a good look at it before. I don't like the unit graphics at all. Or those thick red lines that remind me of Order of Battle - one of the things that put me off OoB.

I've just stumbled upon this thread https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79525
A few months ago Slitherine was contacted by a computer engineer from Turkey (birthplace of the Emperor, beloved by all) called Gunes Kuday. He is a fan of Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon and he proposed to work on a free update for it. There were some aspects of the game he wanted to improve, so we gave him the source code and he has worked since then to expand the game.
Perhaps someone could get in touch with AlbertoC and ask for options?

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of similar games? In addition to Panzer General, Panzer Corps and Order of Battle?

Or some community meeting place for those types of games?
Perhaps what we are looking for already exists elsewhere, with limited publicity, waiting to be discovered.

Given the amount of time and money I already invested it is fair to say that I would spend $ 300,00 on this project.

Though, I think it would be most promising to get the source code. Since Slitherine does not seem to have the intention to develop its former ice-breaker even more. And there is still timeless potential, indeed.

I suggest to take a look at another famous game and consider it as an example. Master of Orion II, namely the older version of the 90s. There is a complete mod which has come out recently, by supporters. It corrected and recreated the game.

https://moo2mod.com/patch/MANUAL_150.PDF

So you see how much potential there could be. Give the source code, and popular games will prevail.

and there is the community patch project for civ 5 as another example. they have seen untapped potential in a game the owners/developers moved on from.
