Truly an awesome land for awesome blokes (and the odd sheila), where sweet bugger all is a travel destination not a dream.
Come, all are welcome*, just mind your step it's probably poisonous.
*Border security may be of a differing opinion.

The two armies fought each other to a standstill; so we agreed to toss a gold florin, which the Imperialists won, and they were therefore declared the winners. [Although come to think of it, I have yet to get my coin back from ratprince …]
GentlemanRanker’s Imperial heroes narrowly escaped annihilation against ratprince’s ghastly, ungrateful peasants by 60 to 52.
The battlefield was a cross shape defined by four substantial areas of woodland. The Imperialist Landsknechts drew up in a crescent, anchoring on two of the areas of woodland, planning to use the numerous areas of rough to disrupt the peasant pikemen, and to site units of longbows and crossbows to slow up their advance. The peasant missile troops poured into their adjacent woodland, and were able to advance without being troubled by the Imperialist artillery, easily seeing off or destroying the light troops and medium missile troop which had been sent forward to intercept them. The peasant pike block surged forward in a seemingly endless mass.
The peasants built up an early lead, having won in the woods, and having a fair amount of success in catching and killing the Imperialist cavalry [handled poorly, certainly not in the awesum4 approved manner, I fear I shall be forced to return my boots and spurs]. The Imperialist Landsknechts made slow work of grinding down their peasant adversary’s, and the only Landsknecht vs Landsknecht contest was swiftly won by the peasant’s mercenaries, this allowed the peasants pike blocks to begin to overlap on their left.
The overlapping peasants began to eye up rear charges, and it looked to this general as if they were on course for an early, decisive win. However, some of the Imperialist Landsknechts began to win their combats, and miraculously managed to pursue out of immediate danger, and the missile troops in the rough really proved their worth in locking up and slowing the peasant pike blocks. Thereafter, the score progressed pretty much in tandem, never differing by more than a few points until right at the end, at which point the superior resilience of the Landsknechts began to tell.
In the end, a tense but enjoyable encounter, with the Imperialists just managing to hold out for a win – very well played by Mike. However, will this torment by fractious peasant pikemen ever abate?

Until our inept villagers learn the difference between 'port your pike' and 'charge your pike' I guess. Otherwise, we'll never replace our ragged sackcloth and master the practice of parading in flash clothes around the village square to impress the ladies !

The Revolting Peasants Round 2 Result
KiwiWarlord's 47,400 Slovenian Peasants (36%) defeat Peter the Painter's 25,800 Imperialists (64%)
The Imperialist army attacked piecemeal, throwing all their skirmishers forward to harass the Peasant Pike Keils and sent a wing of Mounted troops to envelop the Peasant Right Flank. Both were shot to pieces and enveloped by the massed Aruebusiers & Crossbow armed Peasants supported by many Mobs.
The Imperialists threw their well trained, professional Keils into the Peasant Keils and started to demolish them, clearing the Peasant Centre very quickly, but could not contain the Peasants on their Flanks and were swamped.
Much jubilation was heard from The Revolting KiwiWarlord's retinue.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Lord GentlemanRanker, and our commiserations to Lord Peter the Artiste.
These games are indeed a test of our resilliance against against vast numbers of unwashed, uneducated, and untrained mobs.

Greetings from Herceghalom, cousin
You are truly
Brian the blessed with the latest victory at the head of your Slovenly Peasants. We salute your peasantry from the neighbouring village in the I-
donet-washalot basin. It t'was a shame that our dear ratprince succumbed to Nick's imperial trickery but we here at Herceghalom are buoyed by our faction's overall success. There will be turnips for all tonight and we look forward to more knight clubbing upon your return.

Have you managed to keep your Pike & Shot PC high & dry Mark ?
The flooding over your side of the ditch has been massive.

A wide brown land for me, almost as far from the risk of flood as of nuclear annihilation.
Though it is quite green here on the coast and, of course, winter is coming.

SnuggleBunnies (Imperialist) defeats Lascar (Confused Agriculturalists) 46-16
Sheer numbers allowed rallies to drag the battle on, but this Imperialist army can field enough pikemen to allow a much more straightforward approach than the last battle.

A couple of players, Andre and Jack, have suggested that Jemmingen is not the most interesting scenario to choose, though I have to say that Brian and I enjoyed our practice game.
They have proposed as alternatives:
- Battle of Vinegar Hill , or
- Battle of White Mountain
Any thoughts?

Is Greenland an Aussie protectorate now? Conversely, watch out for white walkers!

We could go later with a Rebel yell vs Yankees scenario, which can be loosely connected as they could be descents of our farming peasants previous uprisings in the European theatre.

I hearby declare a revolting victory against the vallient gort7078, 47%-26%
A difficult assault for our unwashed mob, although the crossing of the deep steam across the map center, did in fact provide some cleansing (the first for a very long time) and also contaminated the imperialist water supply further downstream.
the cunning inperial Don deployed his heavy pike and artillery to the rear of his deployment area, forcing us to cover a much greater distance under heavy fire, while harrassing the flanks with cavalry sweeps. the flanking cavalry attacks were quickly beaten back (or it could have been the revolting smell) Either way, we managed to retain good enough order to assault and finally swamp the enemy keils and artillery, who by this time had been conciderably weakend by the bouts of dysentery caused by the water contamination.
A great fun game with a real gentleman player, who put up a very strong and tough defence.
Thanks for a wonderful game Don, and looking forward to playing again soon.

Perth ?

Perth! Perth is another country, least that's what they'll tell you.
Warrnambool, about three hours west of Melbourne towards the South Australian border. That's 1100km from Sydney and 1800 from Brisbane, so a comfortable buffer from the sky falls in the north. All I have to worry about is it all running down hill.
I'm watching the "White Walkers" on TV now and all I can think is
it's a hard rain a-gonna fall.

I suggested Vinegar Hill, as it is very much in the spirit of the event - rebels armed with pikes against the forces of order armed with musket and bayonet.
Out from many a mud wall cabin
Eyes were watching through the night,
Many a manly heart was beating,
For the blessed morning light.
Murmurs rang along the valleys,
To the banshee's lonely croon
And a thousand pikes were flashing,
By the rising of the moon.
By the rising of the moon,
By the rising of the moon
And a thousand pikes were flashing,
By the rising of the moon.

So we are just waiting for the one last game to finish between BobGanoush and Snooky51.
I will post the match-ups for Round 3 in the next days with a view to starting next week.
