There's also the use-case of loading up the turn, watching the enemy moves, then turning it off and walking away to think about what you want to do in your turn.
The main pattern that I expect our system to punish is people loading and re-loading frequently as the reasoning for that is usually that they've got ambushed or they're doing scouting for enemies in the FoW which is just bad form IMHO

Having no knowledge of coding, I have no idea if this is a reasonable idea...
Would it be possible to implement various speed options for the turn replay?

You can simply click on the far-right button 'play next action'.
You do not need to actually replay the turn.

I think that the replays also use the AI Turn Speed that's set in the settings?

We track every download and upload of a game turn and ban players that abuse the turn based nature of the games.
That is definitely better than nothing but it is far from a full solution. Do you have any plans to improve the system? Ideally, in case of a middle turn reload, I would expect to continue from where the reload happened.
So games, like Field of Glory 2, do have the ability to do a mid-turn save up to the server, but OOB doesn't implement that.
In general, our expectation is that you're reloading because you've crashed (as OOB turns are generally fairly short in MP, with the exception of Erik's Opuses (Opii?)). We're always working to improve our PBEM systems though. Our newer games are on PBEM v3 now whilst OOB is still on PBEM v2 for now.
No, games like Field of Glory 2 do not have a mid-turn save. This issue came up recently and sent ripples through the gaming community. A player reloaded his turn 260 times in one game during a tournament. 99 times in one turn in another game. Some players have said that they are not going to play in the coming FoG 2 tournaments because they basically have no trust in the system.
PBEM v2, PBEM v3 or PBEM v4 Slitherine really needs to get a grip on this and stop the user side manipulations. They have said that they are looking at it, I know.

Hi,
I understand the frustrations from that FG2 tournament.
We've taken this on board and are addressing them. I personally did spot tests on our last OOB MP tournament and warnings were issued to players who were clearly manipulating the download system. We'll continue this manual checks until the new automated system finishes development.
(p.s. Warnings will turn into Bans much quicker going forward)
Thanks,

Jesus christ, is there like a BIG money prize at the end?

Also, it looks like we should be pretty safe if we reload only a couple of times.

Hi, I've received a warning and I admit making a several of reloads on purpose (I've switch to 2 mouse key control scheme ... less error that way, an undo similar to Unity of Command 2 would be great!) but I've gotten several issue when uploading the file, I often (let's say 20% of the times) a timeout. It is usually fixed with a retry but sometimes not ...
Is my 2MB DSL connection enough?

That connection really should be enough, yeah.
I'd advise to keep retrying when uploading your turn to avoid automated warnings.
There's no Undo in OOB for historic design reasons. Two button input system is definitely the best way to avoid misclicks. They'll still happen though, and the best thing to do is own the mistake and keep playing!
I will ask what the timeout on a turn upload is, just to check

I've just got 3 uploading errors in a row. At the third attempt just heard my son shouting in the distance "is the net down??"...we got a router malfunction so had to reload like an hour later my tournament game (always tournaments first; then les hors d'oeuvre à la KarisFraMauro)
Please, don't crucify me!
