Sorry about that! I only did it because you were in my way to victory.
On another topic, I got 104 points for one of the rounds- that doesn't sound right? I thought 100 was the max.
You've actually managed to find an obscure edge case in that scenario

Which I'll have fixed for the next patch. My guess is that you should have finished on 96 points. We'll need to do some manual points fixing to adjust those players who lost out due to the username bug, so you might find that you drop a couple of points before the next round
The VP score during the mission read that I finished at 100 points, while my opponent got 104 points, so I assumed we'd both end up with 100 points for the game?
I was playing the delay game to try to deny points for my opponent- I thought I would manage to get 100 points, but would still lose as my opponent would get more on the final turn, and that is what happened. It wouldn't be fair that my score of 96 is counted which was the VP score from the previous turn.

The rules are "whomever gets to 100 first, wins". The scores should stop counting at that point.
This does give an advantage to Red, but I counter that by giving Blue reinforcements first.
TBH, I'm probably going to change these rules for the next version of the map after seeing it live in action in this tournament.

Sorry, don't mean to try to gain an unfair advantage or disagree that if there is an issue, it should be fixed. However, I was playing under the assumption that I would manage to get to 100 score, while my opponent got 104 (if I recall; didn't save a replay but maybe you could check that on your side) which is what happened and was showing on my screen during play. Based on that, I agree to have my score adjusted to 100, but not 96.
Also, just a reminder that another part of the tournament rules are: "Whatever happens in the game counts. If there is a bug or result you did not expect that causes some advantage or disadvantage, you must accept this. Any issues encountered will be investigated and we will attempt to resolve these for the future. However this will not affect the results of the game.". So according to this, I should even keep my score of 104

.
I came second on the last OOB tournament because we stuck with the rules, even if they didn't make sense in my view (can dig the topic if needed). I wouldn't want to lose this one, even if it is a beta, because I agreed to break the rules now.

I've been noticing in one of my games that when I end my turn I'll have a substantial lead in victory points, but whenever I start my next turn it gets reduced to being tied with my opponent. Not entirely sure what's going on. I do have three of the four objectives taken, and have for several turns now, so if it ends up a tie I'll be surprised. But it's hard to complain when I'm playing well and enjoying myself

Currently ranked fourth and barring bugs / glitches expect to be sharing the top spot with several others at 200 points soon!

There's a bug where the score is displayed wrong if you look at the Turn Overview during the replay. If you look at it after the replay has finished, you'll notice the scores are displayed correctly

That's a fair point!
I'll agree that you should get at least 100.

Reassuring to learn. Actually you may have mentioned it earlier but I wasn't paying attention

Important thing is I just won one game anyway

Solid victories indeed!
But too many people on the same points for my liking, which is one of the elements that I'm going to change for this map for future tournaments. Thinking to change it to Cap at 15 turns (the longest a completed game has gone on for so far) and let people get as many points as they can in that time period (including awarding points for destroying towers and units).
Think that will give more score variations that the current system.

I agree on this - the next map will allow for a lot more divergence in score, because the Japanese have an advantage and will likely win. The key however is how fast, and this will be reflected in the scores.

Hello,
Im playing duel with player "Melcafist" and our overall scores on page is still 0 - 0 instead of the true score after few turns.
Thanks

Hi Sabotek,
Can I ask what country you're in? We have a theory about the score issue and want one more data point

What's going on with this tournament? My opponent was SturmannBlut and he never took a turn. So I'm waiting all week and now I see that the two matches in "My Matches" are now gone because I guess they timed out. So did I win by default?

Yep, this is sadly always a risk in a tournament game. You'll receive the default "bye" points and hopefully get someone more active in the next round.
Anyone who doesn't play is removed from the competition and doesn't feature in future rounds

Just want to feedback that the BYE score should be changed to 200 in my view. The current BYE award of 120 is too low and severely penalises a participant whose only fault was that their opponent did not show up. This is almost certainly going to result in a loss of the tournament for that player.
As per the Wikipedia page of the swiss-system (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament ):
"The player left over receives a bye: he or she does not play that round but is usually awarded the same number of points as for winning a game (e.g. one point for a chess tournament). The player is reintroduced in the next round and will not receive another bye."
I understand that given only 3 rounds, a BYE of 200 is very large, but 120 is definitely too low. The reward should be at least 160 (ideally 200 in my view) to ensure fairness.

Hi,
TBH, the BYE score has re-affirmed my view that these maps need to change to be more free-form in their scoring rather than have a hard 100 for a win. A hard "win" value is certainly easier to understand, but we had so many people on a perfect 200 in the first round that it's really made it hard to add granularity to the scores.
Our general policy for Tournaments is that a BYE should represent a "reasonable" win rather than an overwhelming win. I agree that 120 is too low for these maps, but 200 is also too high. I'm thinking to aim to reconfigure the maps so that 75 is a "good" win but a very good player will get more than that, thus giving a full BYE of 150.

That also sounds fair! I am writing my first hand impressions from this tournament only, while you obviously have a lot more experience.
