>(Lowland Tribe) [No soldurii to start (only if/when leader's status improves ; no Spanish allies; may have highland or lowland ally(s)]
>(Highland Tribe) [No soldurii to start ( " " " " ; no Spanish allies; may have lowland or highland ally(s)]
>LRRome [Only 50% of any troop type may be superior (excluding Cretans); no elites (unless earned); no allies; no Thracians, Thureophoroi, Elephants, or Syrian Horse Archers; gladiators allowed if fighting another Roman. ]

It was the +50 for a player ally winning.

No pressure...we're just all counting on you to keep this going!!!!

Round 4 Rome Triumphant:

Ironclad (Romans) 5/34 casualties 1254 vs Archie (Gallic Lowlanders) 36/36 casualties 3460

The Romans won the initiative and so the battle was fought on a fairly open plain with clusters of trees dotted around and a stream at the edge. The main fight occurred in the open and within the first wood and thanks to greater numbers concentrated and fighting power the army of Maximus Turnus ganed a decisive advantage which increased as Gallic losses mounted during the battle despite the best efforts of the Son of Thoracentesis.

Round 4 Highlanders triumphant

Chief Getahorse (Highland Gauls) - 29/51
Chief Smeggifix (Lowland Gauls) - 49/46

Fighting on a map with along S curved stream between two steeep highland masses, The Highlanders mostly abandoned their highland and swept across the plain of the stream to turn the Lowlanders right flank while the Lowlanders struggled to get out of the highlands on their side of the stream and their weakened left flank attack only made slow progress against the Highlanders' weak right flank. A bloody battle that showed that massed chariots and Gaesati were not a match for cavalry and the brave soldurii! Thanks for a good game, Smeggifix.

Well...I would enscribeth...if I could find the silly file!!!

Once exams and report cards are out of the way, I'll rework the campaign a bit and see if souls are interested in a second attempt at it.

I might toy with limiting the number of BGs possible. Will see. Player allies bringing +75 was far too much.

Thanks for running the campaign which has been great fun. I'm definitely up for another go and may well see if Gaul can be reclaimed for Rome ;-).

Congratulations and count me in for the next one. Good to see the back of that 75 point ally advantage which was a killer to face. Any true general fights alone - as its a well known fact that allies are for wimps! :)
