So, if anyone out there would like to putter with the DAG:

Try 400pts but:

Maximum #BG: 30 (not including LF).

Romans and Gauls can only be 50% superior HF. Nobody gets elites. (Elites could be granted as win rewards. But we still maintain the 30 BG cap.)(And/or increased superior ratio could also be granted as a win reward.)

Other ideas? Different BG limit?

This would encourage better leadership.

If anyone would like to try a 400pt game, BG max. 30 (not counting LF), minimum 2 commanders, let me know. This has the Romans with 9 superior and 9 average and a choice of poor or other stuff. I had them come out a couple times around 24-26 BG. No allies, only Romans and Spanish (masquerading as traitorous/very smart Gauls). This had the Gauls at 30 and points to burn.

Maybe we'll find the limit should be 35BG but will see.

Your choice of sides or we could both do both!

Even if a win gave you +1 or +2 BG, that would actually be significant. A bit of paperwork to keep track of, but not horribly so.

I would normally leave it to the victory to write history, but to move things along will post as the loser:

Romans (deadtorious) 10/46 vs. Lowland Gauls (Deeter) 40/40

The Romans had 75 pts. of allies for 475 to 400. Outnumbered, the Gauls had little choice but to cling to some rough hills and await the onslaught...something Gauls are not good at. They were undone by anarchy and a lack of initiative.

I'm in as well and have more time to play now. I would ditch the allies thing though. WIthout a strategic layer, it gets down to who is chummy with whom. I do like the earned elites rule a lot.

THIRD Beta Results:

6th choice: Chief Getahorse (batesmotel) [Highland Gauls] Win (2499 losses)(550pts) [may recruit 550 + 3 elites]
5th choice: Chief Smeggifix (IDS) [Lowland Gauls] Win (4092 losses)(450pts) [may recruit 450 + 1 elite]
4th choice: Mucuslus (TGM) [LRRome] Loss (5857 losses)(450pts) [may recruit 450 + 1 elite]
3rd choice: Blathergut (Highland Gauls - Aquitania) Win (2713 losses) (300pts) [may recruit 400; one elite]
2nd choice: Son of Thoracentesis (Archie)[Lowland Gauls] Loss (3916 losses) (300pts) [may recruit 400]
1st choice: Maximus Turnus (Ironclad) [LRRome] Loss (5033 losses) (300pts) [may recruit 400]

Poodiclese gains 50pts as well for being on the victorious side. He did lead a charge but managed to come away unscathed. (In Blathergut's army)
Blathergut gains 50pts as well for being on the victorious side. (In IDS's army)
IDS gains 50pts as well for being on the victorious side. (In dead's army)

We'll toss the player ally idea from this point on.

I need the actual losses for deeter/deadtorius in order to figure choice order for round 4.

Okay...unleash the hounds of war. Ironclad has first choice of target.

Can Getahorse be stopped? If he wins he wins!!!!

I'll take on poodiclese , 100 aps is to much to go after Getaahorse, also figure Smegafix will have a better chance too if bates gets another primeval hill map than a roman would:)
