I have been playing with the nation flags...very impressive!
I suppose this option is not finished yet because i was not able to do this for all units available with a mask.
If more masks would be added, i would ask for the german infantry units. For now i can only experiment with the pioniere.
Keep up the great work

I haven't yet worked with the last version of the tool. But if it works well with my my Finnish and Slovak insignias I'll post them here.

Heh, thanks. It was pretty tricky to automate the process of removing the original insignia, and there are still some quirks left, but I think it works reasonably well now.

Check the ... I think third or fourth post in this thread, I made a tutorial on how to convert any mask so it can make use of this feature. If the purple area I use to programmatically remove the original insignia is not found in a mask, you'll not be able to make use of the feature with that icon.
I created masks for many icons, but not for all, and I don't think any of Dwights or Churchlake's masks are compatible with the feature yet.
nikivdd wrote:If more masks would be added, i would ask for the german infantry units. For now i can only experiment with the pioniere.
Actually, it was kind of an accident that the Pioneers ended up in the units the original version "ships" with, because the infantry masks were (and still are, I guess) kinda experimental.
There's a tutorial on the second post which you can use to create a mask for ANY suitable unit, but you're in luck, the german infantry masks have all been made available by Dwight already in his first post in the thread. He included them in
this package.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the tool.

New national insignias have to be in the right format.
I posted an example in
this post.

Churchlake, thanks for making masks available for your icons, I'm sure a couple of silent people are appreciating it. I definately am.
If possible, you might want to consider adopting the new mask format which allows removal of the insignias at some point. I'm not sure if you've checked out this feature yet.

OK,rezaf, i saw thats not difficult to adapt....i send them to nikivdd if they are finished, because i haven't a Mediafire or Similar-Account. And it's too much to post it here picture by picture....
British and French masks will come the next days....already adapted for your new masterpiece...

Yes, I was wondering if the masks that have been made can be adapted to the new tool without completely making new masks. It doesn't take long to make a mask and not long to make a large number of them once you get started, but I would hope maybe, just maybe we could adapt the existing masks to the new format. If not, then I will start making new masks before Massi's tile package comes out and I have to get started remaking my maps.LOL.

Now, i have tested them and it works with the new sprayshop....

I'm not sure what nikivdd intends to do with them, but he asked me to make some Japanese insignias, so I did.
Or, at least I tried.
They don't look too good on most skins. Are they even correct?
If someone is a pixel artist and can improve on them, please do.
For now, everyone can dump these images in his DCS\Insignias folder and play around with them, if desired.

I think Nico is going to make a battalion of Japanese Tiger I's to fight the Soviets in his last scenario in the Far East. They all were imported in Midget submarines from Germany to Japan.

Reazf,
I'm starting to experiment w/ re-doing my minor skins for SS-GTPG and they look great. Right now I'm doing the Hungarians and using the Late Hungarian Green Cross and putzing around with different camo schemes and even solid color schemes using the base color button.
I don't want to sound pushy, but could you do National Insignias for Bulgaria,Rumania and Slovakia?
The new Hungarian skins look awesome. When I' done a couple I will send some samples to Dwight so he can relay them to you (I'm sorry I don't know how to do screenshots......yet

)
BTW, I think Arty and Inf would come out awesome if you pick a "lighter shaded" camo scheme and use the base color button. You would get grunts w/ diffenrent colors than the vanilla png.s and having the lighter shade would not affect the model detail. The pioniere came out looking pretty good
There would just have to be masks made for the aircraft, grunts and towed guns
This tool is just so f%cking awesome,,,I love it.
Thanks to you Rezaf and Dwight and also the churchy for turning out some new masks

Or a couple of sturdy russian battletanks with Japanese insignia fighting the Germans in the far east.

They look...Japanese.

Seriously, as such they look good, though I haven't seen many Japanese vehicles using such insignias in reality, only in some cases. Tanks and armored cars from the "marine" SNLF forces also used the naval flag with those red "beams" coming from a sun positioned slightly left from the center (though I think this one will be even more difficult to produce in that size).
UK didn't use RAF roundels (otoh the French did use their roundels on tanks indeed) on vehicles as standard - I guess it was introduced in PzC simply to help to ID the sides more easily, and in that way it makes sense to keep this style.

IJA used the Hinomaru (sun circle) flag for their vehicle insignia, IJN used the Rising Sun flag (the one with the rays).
