Thanks Don for a very enjoyable day. Even if I did have to play 3 Mughal armies.

Highlight of the day for me was my allied BG of 6 Tibetan "cataphracts" single-handedly defeating my third round opponents by inflicting all 13 of the Attrition Points required for victory.

Firstly thanks to The Don, daughter Jenny and the "Clevedon Crew" for a brilliant day, and well worth the 5 1/2 hour round trip from Hertfordshire. Thanks also to my 3 opponents for 3 good games.

Having taken the Hawaiians for a "fun day out", I must admit they performed very well and 5th place beat my expectations. They are BIG (19 BG's with 138 bases! ) and surprisingly resilient in period. I did have to resort to pre-drawn deployment maps so I could make sure I got them all on the table in the central deployment zone and needed the numbered sabot movement trays to get the toys on the table quickly and keep the game flowing.

After a big win against Andy's Mallacan, when the Impact foot didn't win a single impact (Andy's dice were appalling), a 14-6 win against Brian's Mughal's with 4BG of artillery, the Hawaiians found themselves on the "Top Table" facing down Alasdair's Hindu Indian with 7 BG's of foot!!! A very hard earned and bloody 10-10 draw was fought out with Alasdair about to roll up my right flank but he was losing at least his camp and 3 other BG's on my my left. A great game, but one I needed to win to trouble the prize winners.

The format for the day is great and although I'm not a real fan of "pre-set" terrain, for a one day comp that enables you to get in 3 games, it really works!! The next round is in London with a return to the ECW -Not much wacky I can take there so I guess Rupert and his cavaliers will get another run out!

If you haven't tried these 1 day events, get along to one as they're particularly suited the new players who get to experience the rules and learn very quickly!
