I see some custom scenario designers sometimes replace the generated scenario preview file with a custom graphic (hello conboy 
).
Now, when you select a scenario to play you may choose between list and map mode (displaying previews).
If the custom preview graphic is high resolution, you may end up with the situation in the screenshot.
The only way out is to exit to desktop.
