Have to ask; are elephants somehow less inclined to break off pursuing and attack?
Doesn't seems so when I look at the rules but I've seen many examples of infuriating negligence by my nellies in my digital league games so far.
Example above:
Elephant charges from A at cav X in square B. Pursue one square, ignores cav Y and turns 90 degrees to wink the fleeing cav X goodbye.
One example, sure, but as I wrote it happens so frequently with elephants compared with what I'm used to see from cavalry...

Elephants do seem particularly prone to ignoring potential open flanks and bumbling off after their target. I've seen them frequently ignore obvious flanking opportunities to continue chasing after whatever had their attention in the first place.

No, from what I read of the code, elephants are not "less inclined to break off pursuing" than cavalry. It is a matter of luck.

I've had elephants (rarely) run right down through a line of 3-4 units after hitting one in the flank, although I think every time they just kept going straight ahead after routing the last guy. Don't recall an elephant diverting from pursuing one unit to hitting another in the flank, but perhaps I've forgotten...
