Is there a chance of a river crossing map in an update

One thing I would like to see in the game is at least one map where there is a river to cross (could be two or three squares wide).

Crossing a river would put heavy soldiers and heavy cavalry in a disadvantaged position. So to be able to do that as successfully as possible you would have to plan it carefully in case the enemy would be close enough to attack you when you're about to go out from it onto dry land.

I think a river crossing could be an advantage to a smaller defending force.

There is nothing to stop this being done as an Editor-created scenario. Probably MP-only as trying to write AI for it would be a nightmare.

We don't plan to do it for Custom Battles, for the same reason.

In a current Digital League match there is a river (which is off-limits) cutting off about a fifth of the map. What is weird, and what I have never seen before if I recall, is that there is a road running across the middle of the map, and it runs also over the river. Not sure if it is WAD, it sure looks strange (a barely visible line running over the river, no bridges or anything) and it could have been possible to move across the river along the road (the focus of the battle is on the other flank, so neither side has moved across it, but I noticed I could have ran across the river with a light unit; in fact I hadn't even noticed the road across the river until I saw the light unit could have move across the river).

If needed, I can post a screenshot when it is my turn again.

That is WAD. Where the road crosses the river it is a ford, and can be crossed.

Fords are pretty common in my experience, a bigger issue is when a river on the map doesn't have any fords, although that is not very common.

It is mildly entertaining when ones opponent places some units on the smaller part of the map and only realises there are no fords after the game starts!

LOL. Yes, it sometimes happens.
